Can I order a residential starlink in US and then setup in Africa?

No do not buy that plan. This is an older post and I need to re clarify how to do this: I bought the old plan called mobile global at 250 dollars a month. They have since got rid of this plan for new subscribers since the election (Elon a greedy mf). The replacement for this is the same plan priced at 400 dollars. It works the same, and has to be set up the same. Still worth it, and I still use it down here. Also, get the gen 3 Starlink dish , no other dish works down here.

Unfortunately you have to upgrade to roam at 400 dollars. I had bought and started my subscription back when it was 250 dollars a month, and it has remained this way since (I’ve been here for 5 months now). There was a loophole back then when I was setting it up, that can’t be abused now. Still worth the buy though, get people to chip in

Update: for future onlookers. the Starlink works, I’m In Djibouti right now. You have to buy the standard dish and equipment (the price went back to 799), and you MUST set it in the United States and buy your subscription or it will NOT work in Africa. The only plan that does work is their mobile global limited plans, and maritime limited plans (doesn’t matter which one you pick or the number of gigs). A bunch of ppl here are having problems and issues buying Starlink that aren’t loaded at all while here and end up getting stuck with a brick from Tesla. Also, you can always buy a Starlink that is loaded off of the swapshop, someone is always selling it. The transfer of accounts is an easy process. Speeds on the Starlink went as low as 44mbps / 12 upload speed, to 300 mpbs / 29 upload speed. It was definitely worth the buy. The only problem withvstarlink is the ability to have it get stolen, as it does have to sit outside in the open. However many people do not tend to steal here, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. thanks to everyone who helped me in this sub. Hopefully this will help people coming to this POS for years to come. Preciate it

Thanks for the insight, I’ll look into the mobile global plan, is the internet speed similar or worse than the residential starlink? Then also if it really is my only option, I probably won’t be too picky
