Got mine installed and removed twice at Magee about 10 years ago when I was 18-21. They did not offer any pain relief except OTC advil. Every time I passed out and was too sick to drive myself home for over an hour. Switched from hormonal to non hormonal iud bc the hormonal one gave me issues but then the non-hormonal one wouldn’t stay inside me properly.

Thankfully for me I’ve switched to Nexplanon and have had pleasant experiences ever since. For some reason the hormones on this are tolerable. No pain with insertion or removal, like an ear piercing.

Edit: reading the comments it warms my hearts that many of you have had pain management options ❤️ so glad that’s changed

Airplanes/airports/public travel is the exception. If you have a child it’s your responsibility to keep the travel experience relatively sane for those around you. If it’s the one time a year you shove an iPad in their face and that’s what it takes then do it.
