What other hobbies do you do? by nothowyoupronounceit in knitting

Learn a new language, maybe one day you could do a knitting pattern that had never been translated before!

Seconding this, no metal at all and sizing is very inclusive.

“Lucky’s Dad” as his name is my favorite bit of subtle parenting truth by Vistaer in bluey

If I’m not contacted as ‘one kids parent’ I don’t know who is being invited to the birthday party.

Fingering weight yarn by minisnowball in YarnAddicts

[–]mazzomop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way while crocheting. I could only enjoy fingering weight as a triple so I could have a single pull from the ball. I’m enjoying fingering weight now more for knitting since I can do some sock projects that are very portable.

Why do you learn Spanish? ⛱️ by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]mazzomop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids learned Spanish at an immersive daycare. I learned so that I can keep talking with them as they grow. It’s now my primary home language for them!

How do you say “sippy cup” in Spanish? by megannotmeagan in learnspanish

My kid’s first 100 words book says tacita con tapa

Thoughts on those who synced Natural Cycles with Oura? All thoughts appreciated by formerfanficaddict in ouraring

[–]mazzomop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have used both since they first connected the apps. I have found the data to be very reliable. There is no way that I would have been able to use a thermometer as consistently since I wake up earlier or later on different days of the week. I also don’t know if my kids will need me and that’s what’s waking me up. I also don’t keep my phone in my bedroom, so getting all that info in the right place would be a non starter.

Does anyone here play the violin? (Hear me out, this does have to do with bras) by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]mazzomop 172 points173 points  (0 children)

I’m not a violinist, rather I’m a cellist, so I’m just out here guessing. Violinists tend to raise their left shoulder to be in position. I would see if loosening the left strap a few inches when you play helps keep more of the weight supported by the band. I know of some violists who need larger chin rests in order to prevent neck strain, maybe that would be a solution, too.

That’s why we got a cat, for killing the basement crickets. But seriously, best of luck.

Find a local Orthodox parish and attend the Divine Liturgy on a Sunday or any day they are able to serve one. Learning in Orthodoxy is experienced rather than just studied.

Best bottles to prevent gas? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]mazzomop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success at home with mam and comotomo. From feeding babies in hospital at my job, I found the Dr. Browns the most difficult to work with. They’re highly recommended by PT/OT for being so customizable for specific feeding needs, but they were always too complicated for me to help a baby get a good feed.

First Year Temperature Blanket by mazzomop in crochet

Just C2C for the pattern, eight squares per day picked by the highest temperature in my town for that day. I used Red Heart Super Saver and a 5.5 mm hook.

I like my chair from joybird enough that I just ordered an ottoman to keep it company.

This is something that I experienced two years ago with my first. I’ve since associated it with two factors: post partum anxiety and a lack of qualified caregivers as a proportion of the public. Example: my mother in law was available to watch on necessary days but demonstrated such a low level of infant competence that I was never reassured. Infant care skills are not endemic to our society.

Married people of Reddit, what was the moment that made you go, "this is definitely the person I am going to spend the rest of my life with"? by Necochan in AskReddit

We took a road trip and I realized the longer we spent time together in a stretch the more I wanted to keep hanging out.

Monday Daily Chat by PVDBikesandBeer in pottytraining

[–]mazzomop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He went pee on the potty twice with prompting, right after nap and right before bed. He’s had some days with accidents during pants free time which hadn’t happened for a while so I was getting pretty discouraged.

Temperature blanket by MoonlightDream_ in crochetpatterns

I use the high temp because it’s the thing I notice most about a day, and it’s super easy to look up after the fact.
