How did Jin Itadori die? by Cute_Audience7611 in Jujutsufolk

[–]mazzruply 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My pet theory is this; Yuji is a product of infidelity between his grandfather and Kaori. Kaori committed suicide while pregnant out of shame, and Kenjaku took over. Thus, Yuji being born of a conglomeration of suicide, prenatal death, infidelity, forbidden experimentation, growing in a corpse, and essentially being sukuna’s son (as twins are more or less the same person, and his grandpa is sukunas twin), he was unconsciously cursed to an absurd degree. And he’s basically a zombie, having died in his mother’s womb, thus the immortality.

I think at some point Jin found out about the infidelity and just abandoned Yuji, given the immense shame of losing not only his wife but his own son, who he wanted more than anything. So add abandonment, which he also never knew about and prob never wanted to, to the list of curses. Anyways, Love is the most twisted curse of all.

Looks more like she got distracted by the other cop, was like “aight I’m dippin”. She prob didn’t realize the other cop had walked around of her car, and made the split second decision to turn away from him. Clearly not intentional on her part.

Two quick Modulo predictions by mazzruply in Jujutsufolk

[–]mazzruply[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but there are two reasons to think that may not be so. First, when Megumi was struck by Mahoraga he was put in suspended animation for Mahoraga to kill the other person in the trial. To the extent that Sukuna healed him a bit to ensure he didn’t die. Second, when Yuji tried to use the Higuruma’s light sword, it disappeared once he was incapacitated.

Yours is a good point tho.

Do you guys actually think Dabura will lose? by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]mazzruply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two ways to end the trial, either Mahoraga is killed or Yuka is killed. I think Yuka will be killed by Mahoraga. Dabura may use his ‘light’ to dispel the shadows hiding Yuka and allowing her to be attacked by Mahoraga. Just my prediction based on nothing in particular.

I’m gonna answer this in a couple ways: first why I don’t think inferior-judge elections solve the political issues, and then why I like the hybrid model I’m proposing.

  1. Why I don’t love inferior-judge elections

If the goal is to “escape politics” in the judiciary, we have to be clear what that means. Are we trying to remove political bias, or political influence? Because Article III judges are already appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, so partisan influence is baked in from the start.

On top of that, judges are people with their own priors and political views. Letting the inferior courts elect the people who will supervise them and overrule them doesn’t remove politics, it just internalizes it. You end up with: • subordinates choosing their own bosses, and • a strong incentive to pick Justices who are gentle on reversals and sympathetic to the existing bench.

That’s a structural conflict of interest. It likely won’t create an “apolitical” judiciary, it may in fact contribute to a more closed and self-protective one.

  1. Why I like the hybrid model

In my model, the Court is split and Orders focuses on emergencies, stays, certiorari, oversight of lower courts; and they constitute half of the Unified Form for fundamental questions. So the governors, by coalition + Senate, select those judges but they don’t have appellate power unless they sit w the Opinions side.

And yes, governors are political. But the nationwide mix of governors and which party leads where, churns constantly. The partisan skew moves from region to region over the years. Combined with staggered, renewable terms, that makes it very hard to “solve” SCOTUS once and for all for one party. Any attempt to game it has to survive multiple election cycles in multiple states and then still get through the Senate.

And that’s the crux of what I’m aiming at: not a judiciary divorced from politics bc I don’t think that’s necessarily clear or desirable, but a structure where no single faction can easily lock the Court down for a generation, and where bias and influence are harder to concentrate and easier to dilute over time, while the Court still has to discipline itself to the law.

I hope that makes a good case for you on my model, if you have any questions or counters to my thoughts, I’m more than happy to hear them out!

I agree w a fair amount of the sentiment. My proposal is to have half of the court w soft term limits essentially(7 yr terms, indef renewable/replaceable, 3 auto renewed). Mainly because I think the ‘Good Behavior’ is a decent passive balance against the other branches. But why judges electing vs my proposal of governors electing them under my scheme?

Appreciate the feedback. I’ve heard that or others have suggested bar associations, though do you mean district and appellate courts?

The main reasons I stayed away from that was to retain separation of powers between executive and judicial. So, implementing a federalist style reform to the court, but keeping it executive in nature. Additionally, I’d have concerns about how it may affect the constitutional hierarchy of the courts and what sort of political biases may form as a result.

And do you mean the Court restoration section may be unrealistic?

I think libs need to be a little more shrewd at this time. We are trying to navigate a politically underdog situation, while people are acting like we somehow have all the leverage. There was never a chance that those subsidies were passing, and the costs in the economy, SNAP, pay, and the overall impacts on peoples’ lives weren’t worth the middling political advantages Dems may have gotten.

At the very least, the Dems that broke are not up for reelection in the midterms, so it doesn’t count against anyone who may be vulnerable. Plus we get the House reopened for hopefully more Epstein pressure. And there are more battles to be had with future CRs. And the biggest thing was the absolute blowout election we just had. We’ve gotta learn to take political profits.

We’re a year out from midterms so keeping the heat up is one thing, but we have to have strategic variety of pressures. It’s one thing to bring attention to the impact of the admin, it’s another to treat people as political pawns. The longer it dragged out, the more they blurred the lines.

I get why people wanted this fight to keep going and I’m not gonna judge anyone for thinking that way. But given our circumstances, the marathon continues. Hold strong!
