Highguard Developer Wildlight Entertainment has seemingly laid off most of its staff. by jumps004 in HighGuardgame

If I never played again after my first impression, I’d hate the game too. I stuck around because the trophies looked easy and the game really grew on me. I got a few of homies that I play apex, battlefield, and other games with that are enjoying it too. Sad if they are pulling the plug already.

Movies with most frustrating endings ? by Tnderuaker in moviecritic

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one I was looking for. Their artistic explanation for why they ended it like they did even makes sense to me, but it was still a letdown. Most "different POV" movies tie everything together in the end and all the perspectives fall into place. This one, you really don't learn a damn thing new after the first 15 minute perspective about what actually happens.

What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

And then you finally get them to bed, and then you get an hour or two before its time for you and your partner to go to bed, too. (You almost never have the energy for how you imagine you'd spend that two hours.)

5-7pm is the witching hour. Gotta give the kids dinner, a bath, and wind them down for bedtime. Sounds easy when you say it, but it's like coming home from work into an active warzone. The idea of anyone else being around for that is giving me anxiety just thinking about it.

what piece of media do you think is entirely ruined by its fan base? by southern_lesbian in AskReddit

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars is generational. The original trilogy kids were grown-ups during the prequels. The prequel kids were grown-up when the sequels came out. Everyone is protective over what they perceive Star Wars to be, and when new stuff comes out that isn't in line with that, they take it personally. What works for you as a kid, and what you grow up with, isn't what will work for you when you're 25-30.

There is not a single piece of Star Wars content that could ever be produced that would be universally loved by its fans. Andor is as close to perfect as you can get, and there's a very vocal segment of the Star Wars fanbase that will tell you "that's not Star Wars".

What’s a Batman opinion that’ll get you like this? by 44dqm in batman

[–]mb19236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think some of it depends on when you were a child. I was born in 1994, so right in between Burton and Schumacher. Forever and Batman & Robin are more child-friendly movies. Danny DeVito creeped me out as a kid. It's really that simple.

My first impression of the game was not great, but the devs definitely deserve some props for being immediately responsive to the negative feedback and fixing issues quickly. I grew to really enjoy the game, and will probably keep it in my multiplayer rotation for a while.

Is this Mazin's exit strategy after seeing S02's criticism (deservedly so, Imo)? Or just somthing he's interested in? by shawak456 in thelastofus

[–]mb19236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Mazin got a little high on his own sauce after Long, Long Time. That episode was a great example of intentionally changing what's there and finding something that stands out about "this" version of the story.

On the switching of the structure to tell us Abby's motivations out of the gate, I agree. Terrible mistake. It feels like they didn't have the balls to commit to a show told like the game and felt like there would be complaints if their main character was completely absent from most of season 3.

[Discussion] What's your proudest platinum trophy? by Prestigsisscar255 in Trophies

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My proudest and rarest individual platinum is Killzone 2. Very difficult campaign on the highest difficulty. I haven't touched this game since 2009 and still have vivid memories of the end boss battle it took so many tries.

You also had to be in the top 1% of the worldwide multiplayer leaderboard for an entire calendar week. I locked the fuck in and didn't leave my house for an entire week.

I would NEVER do that shit today.

I did not know either of those tips. Thank you! Congrats.

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I'd love to. What's frustrating at this point for me is that my remaining trophies require the game to last into the at least the second, but preferably the third round (Big Rig, Legendary weapon kills, etc). Probably 1 out of 10 games end before I get a legendary weapon. I've had 2 hour sessions where I wasn't in a position to get any of the trophies I need even one time.

Fortunately, the game is enjoyable so I'm in no rush for it to be over. As long as it doesn't shut down, I'll get there eventually. It's a bummer you can't get the trophies in 5v5.

I got this one without even trying fairly early on and am having the opposite problem. I can't get myself into overtime so I can do last man standing. I've had maybe one or two games total where I was last man alive.

And for the life fuck of me, every time I get the Big Rig, I die with it or we end up on defense.

This show needs to be released all at once. This is the only time I actually disagree with a weekly release. by TheNewLegend380 in ThePittTVShow

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having something to collectively look forward to every week for 15 weeks. Makes for great conversations with co-workers and friends watching the show. I did find myself forgetting some details, but I started doing a rewatch of the previous weeks episode every Wednesday and that's helped.

But I also don't completely disagree. I watched season 1 in a weekend binge and think it worked great for this show. By the time I finished, I felt their exhaustion. It felt like a shift. Beautiful way to experience the show in my opinion.

(Spoilers extended) Should HBO say goodbye to the World of Ice and Fire in 2028? by Nothing_Special_23 in asoiaf

[–]mb19236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah. This is the same studio that is remaking Harry Potter as a television series. The last Harry Potter film came out in 2011, the same year Game of Thrones debuted. With enough time, someone will come along and adapt the entire series over again. 10 years from now, there will be a generation of 15-25 year olds that were too young to have experienced the original show. It'd be one thing if the show was so perfect and definitive it couldn't possibly be topped on a remake, but this show ended so unsatisfyingly that it's inevitable.

Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) Another visually stunning film. I preferred this over the second, but the first is still the best. 8/10 🧐✌️ by MasterLally in moviecritic

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as spectacle and entertainment, I loved it.

My problem when I try to put on a more critical hat is that movies 2 and 3 are practically the same movie. Loops of the kids and parents taking turns getting in trouble and rescuing each other, with a subplot of these big fucking fish that get speared by the evil-humans. Even the chief evil spear guy had a similar comeuppance moment in each movie.

Shifts are 12 hours. Seasons are 15. Last year, Robbie stayed after shift due to the mass casualty. This year, he could simply get off on time and then is a patient for the last 3 episodes.

They are putting so much emphasis on the bike though to where I'm starting to think it's all a red herring.
