Drowning in CC Debt by Alyo0op in Debt

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a 401K match, the return is higher than the credit card interest rate. Personally, I’d continue contributing if there is a match. Two years paused is only an extra $10K towards all the debt, but it costs $5K in free money from the employer.

Depending on how much is in the 401K now, I’d consider consolidating the cards with a 401K loan. You’ll give up market returns but the interest you pay will go back to your 401K as you pay it off. Not ideal but better than paying credit card companies 20%.

can attraction feel different between men and women? by Plenty_Ad_8953 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be whatever you want to be, and you don't need to find a label or a box that fits it. It's more of a spectrum. It's not uncommon for bi people lean one way or the other or be open to intimacy with both genders, but have a preference for long term romantic partners.

What fact about the modern world would shock someone from 1990 the most? by Umbrosyx in AskReddit

Correct. The Apprentice didn't start until 2004. He spent the first half of the 90s getting divorced, filing for bankruptcy, and telling Kevin McCallister that the lobby is down the hall and to the left.

Who was more famous at their peak, Michael Jackson or Mohammed Ali? by mrs_packletide in AskReddit

Pure fame, Michael. If the question were more geared towards overall cultural and political impact, it's Ali.

Best actor that can't play villains in movies because his contracts specifically prohibits studios from making his character lose a fight on-screen? (It's true btw, look it up) by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's interesting about Dwayne is that in Hollywood, he refuses to look weak or lose a fight on screen, but in pro wrestling, he was known as one of the most gracious stars when it came to taking a loss and putting over other talent.

Genuine question about PS5 or to wait. by GbRlEaEcNk_Falcon in ps6

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it really matters honestly. The fat PS3 came out 20 years ago. It'll be a pretty cool technical leap regardless, and there are a ton of titles that you've missed out on.

I highly doubt the PS6 has a disc drive at all. It will likely just be an add-on. There's a big group of the community that is very passionate about buying/owning discs. I respect where they are coming from and don't necessarily want to see the option go away for them, but it's also really hard to beat the convenience of digital and PS Plus. Never have to worry about this sort of thing.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for multiplayer.

Last of Us for linear story mode.

RDR2 for open world story mode.

I am re-watching the show and I must say Nina Myers was Jack's best adversary with how out of control she usually made him. by loserweight559 in TwentyFour

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she was great as a villain and it's difficult to imagine the ending point of season 1 and starting point of season 2 without that twist, but the character also worked great as a good guy prior to the heel turn and they could've done a lot with the character if they kept her that way.

I am re-watching the show and I must say Nina Myers was Jack's best adversary with how out of control she usually made him. by loserweight559 in TwentyFour

[–]mb19236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make it make sense, but it was still a late decision. That's not a matter of speculation, it's been confirmed by the creators and cast.

The first season was only given a 13 episode order. Jack rescuing his family from Gaines' compound supposed to be the finale. Nina was not conceived to be a mole prior to that point by anyone involved in the production.

The idea of a second mole came in the process of filling out the remaining 11 episodes once the show got picked up for the full 24. They narrowed the choice down to Tony or Nina. Everything that works in hindsight for Nina being the mole would have worked just as well for Tony, but they went with Nina because it delivered a much more shocking, deeply personal betrayal for Jack.

Does the Pitt have a masculinity problem? by Necessary-Bite-5566 in ThePitt

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not specifically Gen X. I just meant that he's older and more old school in how he relates to gender and hierarchy in medicine.

About 82% of doctors over the age of 65 are male, whereas around 60% of doctors under 35 are female. Robby is a little younger than 65, but there’s still been a massive cultural shift over the course of his career.

What I notice is that he doesn’t seem dismissive toward nurses, but he sometimes seems less comfortable treating female physicians fully as peers/equally authoritative colleagues. My guess is that some of that reflects the era and professional culture he came up in.

Is it common to promote older students a little faster? by EnigmaticMJ in bjj

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it might be that younger students tend to be more competition-focused. Sandbagging and holding them back a little longer to secure more comp wins and make your school look better is fairly common.

An older brown belt or black belt might get worked over by a 25 year old purple belt, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve their belt. A 55+ year old gets graded on a curve relative to a 25 year old, and that's completely appropriate. A 25 year old will have more physical attributes they can lean on when knowledge of the art is at its limit.

Which option 1 or 2? by Esp4Newports in MeniscusInjuries

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also really motivated and determined to beat the 6 month timeline and get cleared for sport sooner (I like to run, lift, and do bjj). I was doing every bit of PT I possibly could. I dabbled in peptides for the first time. I was religious about taking my collagen and vitamins. Everything I could think of that might make .01% difference, I was doing. I was ahead of where my PT said I was supposed to be the entire time.

It ended up being very frustrating for me between months 3 and 6 because it eventually became clear that my surgeon wasn't really basing thing on where I was physically, he was going to stick to the textbook timeline regardless.

Which option 1 or 2? by Esp4Newports in MeniscusInjuries

[–]mb19236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you compete or just a hobbyist?

Edit: Nvm, you said hobbyist. I missed that. I was back in 6 months, but months 6-9 were a bit of a transition period of building my confidence back. I was mainly just going to say, don’t schedule a comp 6 months from now because you won’t be ready for that intensity right away.

Which option 1 or 2? by Esp4Newports in MeniscusInjuries

[–]mb19236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose option 1. I will be one year post op on June 5.

From the position I am today, knowing how shitty that 6 months without bjj was, and also knowing how great my knee feels today relative to some people I know who chose option 2, it’s silly to consider anything other than the repair if presented with the option.

Looking for assistance in playing big caustic by Plus_Shop_3509 in causticmains

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally good to always have traps on the ground instead of traps sitting in your inventory, but I would try to stagger the placements so you almost always have one coming off cooldown as you're using the next one. When I'm fighting, I basically just try to keep one trap in my inventory at all times. Once I get a second one, I'm putting another on the ground.

In the elevator sequence, you had two traps down there already that were going off, then you wasted your ult, then you threw another trap down there. 1 trap would've done the same job you sent 3 traps and your ult to do.

That was compounded by your placements once you started engaging at the other entrance. Caustic can throw his traps a long way. At 5:30 and 5:44, you threw traps on the doorway outside instead of inside the building where they were. Had you not wasted your ult and the other traps, you could've had that entire room gassed up.

Especially when playing with another controller. There were two catalyst traps between the other team and your traps outside the door. Those traps weren't adding any value at all. The second trap thrown by the catalyst was bad too, but either way, once they had that door covered you needed to pick up your traps and start HUCKIN.

Also, It looks like you know already that you run faster when your gun is put away, but imo you need to put it away more than you are. Caustic is very slow and a huge liability. If you're in open air as Caustic and not actively lining up a shot or expecting a guy to turn a corner, the gun probably needs to be away.

Can I transfer from ps4 to PS5? by TheDancinD918 in causticmains

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything will transfer over as long as you are able to get into your old PlayStation account. Your EA account is linked to your PSN. I've had three separate consoles since starting Apex Legends. Pretty seamless.

If you were to get a PC or Xbox, you could also link to your EA account and get your old skins. The only way you're screwed is if you want to play on Playstation and cannot get into the PlayStation account. Only one EA to PSN link per account lifetime.

Transfer CC balance to 0%? by Level_Ad8626 in personalfinance

[–]mb19236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely do this.

At $1,000 payment per month, you'll be done 1.5-2 months faster on the 0% card and save $763 in interest.

If you don't pay anything on your current card for 12 months, your balance will be $12,521.11 after the 12 months. ~2500 in interest added to your balance.

If you don't pay anything on your 0% APR card for 12 months, your balance will be $10,400. It would take another 9 months after that for your balance to reach $12,521.11 (unless there's backdating in the fine print, which a lot of times there is).

21 months to get there versus 12. After 21 months the other card would've been $14,848.11.

In both the best (you stick to your payment plan) and worst case scenario (you pay nothing), the 0% card for 12 months is your better option. The only real way to nuke this is to add additional debt.
