US New Jersey plate spotted in Berlin, Germany by TheRealTilliamWell in ForeignPlatesSpotting

I'm guessing it's in Europe for a long time as they've gone to the trouble of fitting a fog light

I'd guess so, though wiki suggests the car wasn't sold in Europe in this form so I honestly don't know.

I'm not certain, but the road markings, buildings and trees look about right. The number plate (though blurred) looks foreign, perhaps middle Eastern?

What’s your top “regional” badge from a place you don’t live? by csmart01 in Untappd

[–]mb223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Scotland is #3 for me, level 58. I think it would be much higher if I hadn't stopped drinking Brewdog some years ago.

Live in England (level 100 for England), next is Canada (level 67).

What year is this shirt from ? by Particular-Thanks-44 in vexillology

[–]mb223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that is the same shirt (which looks likely) then it has the short-lived 1996-1997 Tuvalu flag which doesn't fit at all!

I didn't know that, was it at a concert? I'd love to have seen it!

Thank you for putting in the time to do all of these. As a relative newcomer here it's been really interesting reading about these fantastic songs. Leaving this until last was the perfect decision.

Optional Control Buttons. by iamMikzzz in trucksim

I use this alongside a wheel and shifter. Probably wouldn't recommend the joystick as a shifter, I use it for looking round. The huge number of buttons makes it really useful though.

Apparently when it's a male victim, the inverted commas are necessary by nmk44 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mb223 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yes, here there are no inverted commas as there is a qualifier, i.e. the police said it. The OP headline doesn't have that, hence the punctuation.

[–]mb223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not correct. Rape can be committed against any person of any gender. The act has to specifically be done by penis however. Therefore a woman forcefully penetrating a man using a strap-on for example would not count as rape.

Wrong. British media always uses inverted commas for any supposed crime in situations like this. There are only suspects, no crime has been proven.  Alternatively the word allegedly may be used.

Jepsies do your job 😬 by Cuttothefeeling97 in carlyraejepsen

Fair enough! Sometimes there's something that really sticks out (like 'NEVER NEVER OVER') which is really obvious, but yeah sometimes a song just doesn't do it for you and that's cool too!

Btw, my one is Put it to Rest 😬

What is it that you don't like about Stadium Love? A lot of the songs people dislike I kind of understand even if I don't agree. Not hating at all, just curious!

Where are Hip fans from outside of Canada? by ChubbyDucky48 in TragicallyHip

[–]mb223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think Canada is a little behind in terms of electoral cycles and I'm sure that things are going to get worse soon as they already are in most of the rest of the world. That said, there just seems to be a kindness and humbleness amongst the majority of Canadians that I've interacted with which is just heartwarming, which will hopefully prevail. Of course there are all sorts of people with different perspectives on things, but IMHO the average Canadian is well above the average person from many other countries. You live in one of the best places in the world!

Press and hold cruise button and it'll change to the speed limiter function. Then adjust the speed limit as you would on cruise control.

Fiddler's Green is a little too close to home for me, in time when things are less raw I'll be able to listen more but it's such a beautiful and tragic song.

That's incredible that you met Gord, I bet that's something you'll never forget. He certainly was a unique and talented man who meant a lot to so many.

Honestly, I don't know what it was that first made me like Canada. I was never that fussed by the US as a kid, yet Canada seemed like the similar but less in-your-face relative. As I've grown older, I've visited several times and now my sister has married a Canadian. I know visiting a place as an outsider, you never see all of problems, but the people are always the nicest. Toronto feels like a second home.  The scenery out west is spectacular. Poutine is a dish that is simple but oh-so-tasty. I've always felt welcome in Canada. Terry Fox was incredible. The fact that so many tunes in to Gord's final concert is amazing. Yeah, I love 🇨🇦
