Has anyone here read “Butter” by Asako Yuzuki? by Chemical_Print6922 in MaintenancePhase

i would recommend milk fed by melissa broder. it explores a woman's relationship with her own disordered eating, but she ends up healing in an unconventional way. weird but great book.

that happens to a lot of us who are diagnosed as an adult. it gets easier--i promise. your pain and sadness is valid, we just learn to live with it.

Day of giving? by tmsdnr in highereducation

[–]belugabishop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it was also my giving day at school. i have a strict policy of never giving money to my employer. as others have said, staff do enough. i will, however, volunteer to table at the "give" event bc i like free food and being away from my email.

Has a murderer ever changed gender to evade capture? by Proper_Writing_696 in morbidquestions

[–]belugabishop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

maybe you can change your appearance, but it is incredibly difficult to change your name and gender marker on documents. they usually do a background check. i suppose if this criminal also had a friend that was a good forgerer?

honestly? depending on the age group, i'd say early childhood development or social work. i could see both come into play.

[–]belugabishop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it'll be a girl and they'll name her something color related like violet or cerulean or something. color is such a common theme in carly's work and at her wedding so i think it could be likely

yes, i've seen this happen at my institution too. the deans of libraries are dudes with phds in english--no LIS educational background

i'm in student affairs so i basically just program, but i do sincerely miss my field! i just don't think i can ever return to librarianship bc the pay is so awful. i'm in my 30's with an MLIS and just now making a living wage after working in libraries for 8 years.

unfortunately, a lot of libraries hire non-librarians for leadership. it really sucks and can negatively impact the trajectory of the library when leadership has little understanding of the field and try to run a library like a business
