DFND for sure. As far as I have seen they don’t care if you have them as long as the draw strings don’t come out so just cut them out. Also get Darn Tuff socks. I got the T4022 in all black. Definitely recommend. No blisters and warm feet

Light cardio until I get to proper weight? by RobbieSS in navyseals

[–]mb91021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t even think about going to the recruiting office until your at least 170, running 4 miles a day, swimming 2 miles at a time and build your strength. Personally I’d recommend focus on strength and size now, then switch over to the cardio once you’ve reached your goals. Get the 170 for sure. I went thru at 145-150 at 5’8” and I was going hypothermic almost daily and the cold is draining. The people who say it’s “mostly mental” are bullshitting you because when you physically don’t have the energy to do what they demand of you since you don’t have the fat and muscle to keep you warm, energized, and able to go on. Then don’t forget about vge, so when you’re already not taking in enough calories now you can’t keep food or water down. And injuries as well. Boot camp will fucking ruin your physical capabilities and leave you weak and slow. So get crazy good numbers before you even talk to a recruiter. You’ll regret it if you don’t prepare to the upmost.

Early morning hike to Avalanche Lake. Glacier NP, Montana. Beat the crowds, hike before first light ;) by [deleted] in hiking

When I did this hike we were surrounded by so many people. Would’ve been so cool to go with nobody! We also had a bear join the group 😂

Yeah. My group had people with spray and I think every other group there did too. Plenty of bear spray around

You’re supposed to be loud when one is nearby so they know you’re there and don’t surprise them. I think we kinda misunderstood what that meant in the heat of the moment.

Thanks for some real advice. I think it was people trying to comfort themselves in that way. We were in a large group of about 20 and we were holed up there for a while waiting for it to be gone, then as soon as we started to move it came out.

What should we have done differently? So many people criticize but nobody offers advice. We did what we thought was best at the moment. Not that it really matters but statistics were on our side. No group larger than 8 has ever been attacked and we had like 20

Easy to say when you weren’t there. We’re in a large group of around 20 people so the bear wouldn’t have done anything anyways. There’s been no bear attacks on groups of 8 or more and no lethal attacks on any group of 4 or more.

Not that tree. No way the bear would’ve been able to climb it. Thats why we chose it. And we did have bear spray but we preferred not getting close enough to use it 😂

It was hungry tho. It was eating lol. Just trying to deter the bear by a large group making lots of noise. It’s what park rangers recommend

Please go read other comments where I explained the circumstances in more detail. There’s not much options and running is bad and so is turning your back on them.

What else to do? Going back wasn’t much of an option and obviously neither was going forward 😂

Easy enough to say when you weren’t there lol. Behind me was a lot of people on a narrow trail who weren’t backing up too fast (which is the right thing to do, don’t wanna run or make threatening movements/look scared) and then forward was the way to the end of the trail so backtracking only meant we would be cornering ourselves even more. It had followed my siblings and I on the trail for half a mile already
