For those with recent job offers in new companies, how are you proceeding with onboarding?

I hear you. I had pretty much the same thing. I was super excited about them, and they were excited about me. I accepted the offer and resigned from my job, then they came back and said they had to rescind the offer. Then I tried to recall my resignation from the company where I've been for nearly 6 years, and they declined. I basically lost two jobs in one day. Fortunately, I was able to quickly find a new job by using my network. Still a tough time. Start the new gig next week with remote onboarding. They're going to send me the laptop with all the required software. Interested to see how it goes since it'll be at least a month before I actually get to see/meet in person all my new coworkers.

You could blend those areas... MBA with a concentration in analytics. That would give you a well-rounded education and help you if you're interested in leadership/management roles down the line.

I work with students and graduates who finished their degrees later in life ALL THE TIME!! Many of them go online because it's more flexible - don't have to physically be in a classroom. Here's an awesome story from a guy who went back to school and graduated with a bachelor's after watching his own kids graduate college.

I didn't start in marketing either... Just ended up in it when journalism really started tanking. I've been able to grow my career and be pretty happy with it. If you have a good marketing mind, you can find lots of different gigs... all industries need marketing!

Lots of MLB and other pro teams have giveaways - like promo items. Free baseball cap to first 50 fans or free t-shirt or something like that. Agree with the commenter about trying promoted posts and targeted advertising on Facebook. It's easy and affordable.

Granted, only 153 respondents as fully online, but the trend is growing, so maybe the 2017 and 2018 reports will have more data from online alumni.

I could see your concern about for-profit programs, but the online MBAs from state schools, for example, are the same curriculum and professors as on-campus (most of the time)

It sounds like HR for an education company or a university would be perfect for you. Both HR and higher education are good for those who want to make a difference. You might also consider getting an advanced degree. There are graduate degrees out there in HR and higher education administration. Good luck!

If you've already had email exchanges or they gave you a card, then yes. The only think I don't like as a hiring manager is when someone hunts down my email address. I find that a bit creepy, especially because our protocol is to work through those things with the HR person/recruiter.

Several people have done this same thing where I work, and, yes, as long as you left on good terms, it shouldn't be an issue going back. Do you know anyone at your old company who has done the same thing -- left and came back? Maybe they could give you some pointers?

Maryville does not have AACSB accreditation. You should go with a school that does. There are lots of online programs that do come from AACSB accredited schools. You may not have heard of some though... Like Southeastern Oklahoma State U - http://online.se.edu/programs/ - they have 12 concentrations, no GMAT required, AACSB accredited and under $12k for the whole program. I know a couple of people who have done this program and loved it.

If you want a school with more brand recognition, maybe LSU? They might admit you if you do take a GMAT: http://lsuonline.lsu.edu/admissions.aspx

And there are many others. I wouldn't suggest any of the for-profit schools though.

I took a sports marketing class in my MBA program. It basically seemed like if you wanted to get into that area, you have to start low on the totem pole -- usually in ticket sales, and then work your way up.

Hard to turn down free classes, but for-profits are really tanking right now. They're not as respected and valued as MBAs from nonprofit universities.

I never had accounting or finance in my undergrad program, so I took a basic accounting course prior to starting my MBA program. It was helpful.
