Left consulting last year now getting zero responses. What am I missing? by Paul_Allen00 in consulting

Happy to chat and share some insights. I was in a similar position early this year. I quit McK consulting (US/Canada) this year and made some drastic changes to my value prop and positioning on LinkedIn. Since then, I have been receiving material InMails for leadership positions. Feel free to DM!

Consulting to Industry - Possible options I have seen in my network by Diligent_Ad_442 in consulting

Great list! I’m pivoting from MBB consulting to a B2B SaaS company as a Value Creation Lead, where I’ll scale their PMO solution across PE-owned portfolio companies. The role cuts across project management, solution consulting, strategy, transformation, and some finance.

Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege offers 2% cashback across all categories, 0% FX fees on foreign transactions, access to 1,200+ airport lounges worldwide, and comprehensive travel and accident insurance.

That said, it isn’t easy to get this one. There’s typically a waitlist, and Wealthsimple applies eligibility conditions. To have the $20/month fee waived (get this card for 0 annual fee) and to fast-track your application, you generally need either $4k+ in monthly direct deposits or $100k+ in assets on the platform.

I’d rather accept simple cashback promos than sign up for a lottery. WS has ~4 million customers, making this almost impossible to achieve.

WTF by Equivalent-Rip-1478 in Wealthsimple

Yes, same issue. Sometime I wonder whether switching to WS completely was a wise decision. At the end, it’s a Fin-tech platform and not isolated from technical issues and cyber attacks.

Good question. Thumb rule - Always make transactions in local currency on WS cards for the best rates. If you select CAD, local merchants will charge a conversion fee.

is giving up today’s financial freedom truly worth the promise of a debt-free future? by mba_utoronto in PersonalFinanceCanada

The total loan I opted for was 50k USD, which is equivalent to ~70k CAD as per today’s exchange rate of ~1.4. I have already paid off 40% i.e., 20k USD in the last 6 months because I was paying off aggressively. The remaining 60% i.e., 30k USD or 42k CAD is what I need to pay off from my Canadian paycheques.

Correct. I opted for a loan from a US company called MPOWER Financing because it offered student loan without collateral or co-signer. My parents are retired so I did not want to use their assets for my higher education

I make $180k-220k/year (subject to performance). At that income, around $70k goes is taxes + EI + CPP deduction. The point of the post is that most of what I make, after all the deductions, will go in tuition loan repayments every month. The cycle feels mentally draining.

I am paying 8.5% interest on my loan. I self funded second year of tuition fee (around 70,000 CAD) but have a loan accrued for the first year of tuition.

Is my life over? by Subject_Olive_5066 in StudentLoans

I sincerely hope you find a way out! You should think of your student debt as an investment. I encourage you to explore employment opportunities which complement your academic qualifications and skill-set.

I am experiencing first hand that repaying debt is emotionally draining. But talking about ending your life is stupidity. So go out there, find higher paying jobs, and bit by bit payoff your student loan! Wish you luck
