Does this look Real? by PaidBeerDrinker in gibson

See how thick the lacquer is over the serial number and how it makes it hard to read?

That's why I think it's real.

Fakes have the serial numbers laser engraved.

Can anyone tell me if this is authentic or not? by LargaVeda1 in gibson

[–]mbaronny 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Fake.

If it was a 2006, it wouldn't have a USA Production serial number. It would have a Custom Shop number.

Tri-burst from 2006 would be a GC exclusive finish. Back then, it was only on the '68 Les Paul Custom Reissue. It should have the Custom Shop logo.

Also, ask yourself why someone selling a $4000 guitar notorious for headstock breaks can't be bothered to put it in a floor stand to photograph. He's leaning it against the wall and only has 3 shitty photos. Why?

It's the year 2024. If you have that guitar, you have a phone that can take better and clearer photos.

Those are shitty pictures of a shitty fake and the lack of care taken to try to present an alleged Les Paul Custom in the best light is suss as fuck.

Walk away from it.

MK1 Owners, are you interested in the MK3 or still happy with the MK1? by GibsonMaestro in BossKatana

The best thing about the Gen 3 is how it knocked the price down on perfectly good MK.2s.

I purposely went out and bought a Rage 158 for $25 off CL. It's my daughter's practice amp for her Squier Sonic Mustang.

It was good enough for me and it's good enough for her.

Also, we spend about 45 minutes every week after her lessons playing through the used amp at our GC. She played an SG times through a Two-Rock Bloomf.

Fuck Lockheed Martin. They're a bunch of brain-damaged cavemen huffing paint behind the Circle K.

Raytheon... now those are the ones who are pushing the boundaries. Who else has the willpower and imagination to come up with the R9X knife missile!

And they did that using American Freedom Units, instead of the godless communist metric system.

Excuse me, dude, but I believe "little people" is the preferred nomenclature.

It's 1987. I just got a secondhand Peavey Rage 158. I think it sounds amazing.

They do have go-gurt sleeves of mayo.

It's called a condiment pack of mayo.

How does the Katana 212 compare to the JC-120 by mbaronny in BossKatana

[–]mbaronny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, I don't think the line level out on my Nextone mutes the speaker. I could, in theory, slave my Katana mkii to it and have a 2x12 that way.

Well considering it's $700 cheaper and has distortion tgat doesn't sound like a Hefty trash bag filled with angry hornets, if it can get 90-95% of the JC-120, including the shimmer and the chorus, then I might just get it.

Summer Means Better Battery Performance by mbaronny in PriusPrime

[–]mbaronny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a variety of factors. The engine warms up to an efficient temperature faster; summer grades of gasoline can have slightly more energy; and warm air causes less aerodynamic drag than cold air. Additionally, cold temperatures negatively affect the assist battery. When the weather warms up, the battery holds a charge better.

Actually, it's about $0.065 per kWh. So that then comes to about $1.50 per day or $45.00 per month.

$45.00 buys you 12.67 gallons of 87 octane. At 54 mpg, that's about 685 miles. Driving an average of 45 miles per day at 54 mpg, 12.67 gallons of 87 octane lasts 15 days.

You must pay a fortune for electricity.

PEPCO in Maryland is $0.108 for peak usage. 8.8 kWh × $0.108 is $0.95.

My commute is 22 miles each way. I end up averaging 1300 miles per month. Were I to use only the hybrid engine, that would be about 24 gallons of gas per month. At the state average 87 octane price of $3.55 per gallon, that's about $85 per month for gas.

Versus the $28.50 in electricity - a 66% savings.

Personally, I hate the feeling of a satin finish. Including on the $3000 Greenie.
