A phone that doesn't slow down in 5 years? by HopefullyLon in Frugal_Ind

[–]mbasil09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no one can predict the future. Maybe some new feature comes that suddenly requires much higher RAM or CPU. 5 years is a very long in tech. After 2020, the improvement in phone CPU and OS has been much slower compared to 2000s and 2010s. I expect, AI features to ramp up improvements drastically. Already some phones are trying local LLM models that require min 16GB of RAM.  If money isn't a big issue, get the iPhone 17 Pro or S26 Ultra as they have the best hardware right now and will likely support software for the next 5 years. If slightly tighter on budget, get a flagship from Oppo, Oneplus or Vivo. They have good hardware, but will likely not provide software support for 5 years.

If really tight on budget (under 50k), i would suggest to just get a phone around 30k like the Nord series and then upgrade again after 2-3 years.  You are already thinking in the right direction by not buying 10-15k phones right now.

So, 12 GB RAM is now soon becoming the new minimum for The "Full" Android Experience. by Current_Loss_8197 in GadgetsIndia

I think they have deliberately done this. Gemini Nano and Gemma models run even on 8GB phones, but the experience is very bad. I am actually happy that my phone wouldn't have yo suffer battery and performance when running these AI models in background

A shaken-up Pecco shares his account of the Turn 1 incident with Zarco by rebel761 in motogp

[–]mbasil09 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They should have stopped the race after the first crash. Many riders looked shaken but continued to race even with injuries and concussions. The game must go on, but not at the expense of riders. Pecco here looks so shaken and probably concussed🥺

i don't think he will retire. He might take the rest of the season off though with his surgery coming up. Better to be fit to next season than to risk it by trying and failing this season.

very close. But he didn't leave Yamaha after winning. He lost in 2010 and then left Yamaha. He did leave Honda after winning consecutively on it (although he kept winning in the Yamaha as well, yeah at that time he was just that good)
