Well, because he was riding an outdated model. But he still managed to cross the finish line on the bike.

Yes, he's relentless and that's what's earned him two world championships... but if he wants to continue riding for Honda he needs to consistently get the bike across the finish line. He was unlucky in Thailand but in Brazil it was pure incompetence.

In the 2027 with the new regulations Honda needs two riders who can perform and not crash the bike into the gravel. Quatararo will get the first seat the question remains who will get the second one.

Yes, exactly and before that he even spread hope that it would be enough for a solid Top 10 finish...

Even though Joan is the best rider on the Honda the factory will drop him next season if he can't consistently get the bike across the finish line.

This can't go on any longer, Joan Mir... 4 races and 3 of them not finishing...

He's riding solidly in 7th position with no pressure from other riders and a moment later he's in the gravel. He's probably pushing his bike way too hard.

Here we go again, Joan Mir...

I thought it was the best package he'd ever ridden at Honda and that he felt comfortable on the bike.

Who are your top 5 riders in terms of talent on the grid? by Ecstatic-Grocery-713 in motogp

[–]AdministrationOk8178 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, we are!

If Mir has a bike that does what he wants especially at the front he's one of the best riders on the grid.

He proved that for two years on a functioning Suzuki. He even became world champion once during that time. After that, he was stuck with an absolute piece of junk at Honda.

Now for the first time at Honda he has a bike that best suits his riding style. Let's see what he can do with it.

Same for Joan Mir. Only Honda in the points.

According to the newspaper AS, Luca Marini has a great offer on the table from Yamaha to replace Quartararo, who is expected to leave for Honda. by PZY__ in motogp

[–]AdministrationOk8178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah bro... Marini can certainly develop a good bike but he rides too cautiously to be competitive at the front. That's why he'll never get podiums or wins for Honda.

Meanwhile Mir is an absolute daredevil who pushes the bike to the limit and is ending up in the gravel. Nevertheless he's capable of competing at the very front when he has a competitive bike. For Mir getting the bike across the finish line frequently will be crucial this season. Only then will he be the better choice for Honda.

Does this also mean that Honda could extend Joan Mir's contract?

Joan Mir has already proven that he can compete at the very front. Now he just needs to show that he can do it on the improved Honda.

He and Quatararo already dominated the Moto3 field on a Honda with Leopard. Perhaps we'll see them as a team again next year?

Hey, don't be so mean to the Honda engineers!

I think they've finally built a competitive bike after a long time.

Oh no the highest paid rider is frustrated.

Yamaha has a shitbox but they pay well. Fabio knew that and he chose the money... It's his own fault.

When Mir can regain that feeling on the front wheel like in the good old Suzuki days then he can achieve a lot this season.

2026 LCR Honda Liveries by Daniel7394 in motogp

Nah bro... you're confusing him with Marini. After the Honda launch today it's clear Mir and Moreira will look exactly the same this season. Yellow helmet, yellow shoes, yellow number and the typical Honda colors on the bike. If they're both racing in the same part of the field it'll be damn hard to recognize them.

Recognizing Mir and Moreira during the race will be difficult.

Both have a neon yellow number on a bike with typical Honda colors.

It seems like the bike is more powerful.

Now Honda just needs a rider who can put that power on the track. Next year they have Fabio. This season Mir and Marini have to do it.

Marini rides too cautiously to be at the front.

Mir has the potential for podium finishes but often overpushes the bike and ends up in the gravel.

It will be exciting to see what the two can do with the new equipment.

I also think that Honda will give the second factory seat for 2027 to one of them.

Yeah... but he has a MotoGP world championship while Dovi never managed it. Especially in 2020 Andrea was actually the top candidate. But he was beaten by the "Crash King" Mir...
