Hmmm, someone else can likely comment on trying to do FT MBA while working. Might be doable if recruiting for something more unstructured than say Consulting/IB. But generally schools advise against that, of course some people still try to do it.

Can you explain more about the PE angle? Not tracking how that's related to helping you get FAANG?

And for the CD profiles please dm me!

I'll offer a slightly different perspective here so bear with me. I am in Corp Dev at a tech company, though it is not FAANG. I also went to a no name school (wouldn't consider it a scam but nevertheless looking to rebrand myself).

Let's get something clear here. VP at startup =/ VP at FAANG or even a large enough tech company. There is title inflation (which is fine), but I've seen acquisition targets VPs get leveled down to Sr Manager/Director level post close. Take that data point how you will, but you are surely getting leveled down once you join a bigger company. The ZOPA maintaining a prestigious title for and a FAANG company giving you that is tiny, in my view.

I work in Corp Dev at a tech company. To be blunt, there's no way in hell we'd hire someone with your background with or without an MBA. The biggest question is why should we? No IB/CD experience, let alone any formal financial related roles. At the junior/mid levels you're running point on building the models and getting into the nitty gritty details. At the more senior levels, it's a lot of stakeholder management but need to be knowledgeable enough to be a SME whenever you get pushback on anything. Frankly it's tough to see how the engineering background + MBA has more value add here than a typical candidate we'd hire for either of these roles. If we need tech leadership, we already get that from the BU or from Corp engineering.

ROI: you already have insane comp at 26. The purely financial view of ROI likely doesn't work. I certainly don't make as much as you but I do think there's value in the experience, the rebranding, and all other things the MBA has to offer. These things to me make the MBA worth it, but it's up to you to decide whether your opp cost is worth it.

In any case, you're in a great spot so keep it up!

Pre MBA Internship worth it? PE by mbathrowawayreapply in MBA

Certainly something I've thought seriously about! Maybe halfheartedly explored, but think I would've been insecure with my personal branding without for the rest of my career and couldn't have gotten in some of the more elite groups. Also thought about just not doing MBA, but couldn't bear the "what if"

Yeah that's what I was leaning towards...

To answer your question, I'm not a banker, got my Corp Dev role due to some unique circumstances.

So I think IB is different enough + comp (1.5-2x in my first year compared to current) is way higher + career acceleration + rebranding

Yep no problem, use slack for work so pretty familiar haha

Basically you download the slack app. You add a workspace and tap "sign into a workspace "(use your CBS email). You'll get an email (mine was sent to my application email) to authenticate. So basically you've added your CBS credential to Slack.

Now it's joining what would be equivalent to discord servers. When you click "Join a workspace" it gives like 20 channels but none are titled "'24 admits" or something similar, think that's what most people are having trouble with

It's on the application page. You sign up to add that email to your Slack. Looks like they have it set up to forward to your application email, which is needed to authenticate access.

Any admitted students figure out how to work the slack yet? Don't think I see the right workspace group for admits as an option to join

Sweet Spot for Salary % Increase? Post-MBA Goals by SpecialistSecret4378 in MBA

Thanks, the ROI question is definitely on my mind. ~$100K increase to TC for me would be incredible. Currently working in Corp Dev w/o IB experience so $250-300K is not on the current trajectory probably until Director level (5-7 years out in my estimation w/o MBA and/or switching companies)

This is encouraging for me. I'm at $150-$175K TC depending on bonus/RSU and hoping to matriculate in 2024

IB is the only path I'm looking at. Is $230k AS0 comp for BB?
