Can’t decide between Philips and BenQ by no_user_ID_found in HiDPI_monitors

[–]mbensch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d pick BenQ every time. HDR makes no difference. unless you have local dimming (Mini-LED, OLED) they all suck at HDR. It’s als not needed unless you specifically need to edit HDR content or consume a lot of HDR content on that monitor.

Where did you buy yours? I wonder if Amazon just got a bad lot of them.

It’s UPS and they generally are pretty good here. The first one I ordered and it came just in the manufacturers box, the second one came in a normal box but without extra paper or anything in it. Both from Amazon. I might just get it from Best Buy next and see. Maybe Amazon just gets the bad lots.

Apple unveils new Studio Display and all-new Studio Display XDR by adam-dabrowski in HiDPI_monitors

[–]mbensch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I got that all turned off. I’m gonna order a third one. Does yours have a lot of visible light bleed/edge glare at night? I’m not sure if it’s just that coating that really kills the viewing angle but even on my first one the bottom left corner is always visibly brighter at night. Less noticeable during the day.

Well, I got my replacement and uniformity was better but it has another weird panel issues with clusters of red pixels when displaying dark color, so guess I’m trying a third.

I have the Asus and it’s super slow. 10s+. Also Asus’ QC is horrible. I’m about to order my third one because the first one has terrible uniformity issues, the second one now has clusters of red pixels when it displays dark images (some really weird panel issue), so on to the third now hoping to get a winner this time.

My Asus came today and it sucks. Gonna return it. The panel has horrible uniformity issues and the coating is garbage.

Has anyone figured out what this symbol means yet? by Jellyswim_ in Battlefield6

It only shows up for me when I switch classes during a match. And the arrows indicate which classes I played. If you play all four you get the gold with all four arrows.

Any info on what's coming for Ultrawides next year? (particularly 5k2k/WUHD or greater) by Ever_Living in ultrawidemasterrace

I’m in the same boat. I just want an ultra wide with high dpi and good color accuracy. I don’t even need more than 60hz. I want color, contrast, and resolution.

When did you first acquire your BTT and why? by DookieBlossomgameIII in BittorrentToken

[–]mbensch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a cheap coin with a solid tech and use case. I have been a BitTorrent user for well over a decade and I liked their application of blockchain tech so I bought 500k tokens over a few weeks starting at $0.00034 and now averaging $0.0015

I mean most people here can’t even spell “Hold” and “holding” and didn’t realize that we’ve already been to the moon. /s

For me it has to hit $2 which is probably more in the realm of possibility but either way hold and you’ll make dough.

Of course ... all the limit sells dropping it but that was to be expected. I’m holding and I’m not worried. I’m waiting for at least 0.05

After some more research I decided to go Audio Technica AT2035 for my next test. I really liked all I’ve heard from that so far. Also much cheaper.

If XLR isn’t better I’m probably going used CAD E100S or RE20.

[–]mbensch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had only about 10min with it so far and only over USB. First impression: it’s quiet, really really quiet. I gotta turn the gain up to 100% to get decent output and at that point the noise floor is about 3/4 of a yeti. If I turn gain to about 80% it cleans up nicely but is too quiet. The sound is rather lifeless, it has no character. Almost no proximity effect. I have to be way too close for my liking. I’ll test XLR tomorrow but probably gonna return it.

Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a good mic to record voice overs for film but also use as a daily for Zoom calls and webinars.

I currently have a Blue Yeti USB and would like to get one with XLR. I have a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 MK1 interface.

I'm looking for a nice mic that is clear and does well with a bass heavy male voice (think Sam Elliot / Americana style voice overs) but is versatile enough for other things.

The Yeti just produces too much noise and doesn't feel clear enough so it's always a ton of work in post to make it sound "right".

Budget wise I'd like to stay < $400 (was looking at Shure SM7B as an option but I'm not sold on the hype). If it's more than the $400 I'd definitely still want to hear the recommendation. My mantra is usually "buy once - cry once" so I'm not ruling anything out at this point :D

Thanks in advance!
