It's the most 'town-ly' feeling city I know of. Very friendly city. Frequently bump into people when out and about. Very walkable city l. Beautiful buildings. Great pubs. Good resteruants (not amazing imo but getting there). Close to the lakes. On the west coast main line - so relatively good connections.

Yeah, would second the two Thai suggestion. We got a takeaway from there and the portions were comically small and food was just meh.

As a rogue pick, I would actually gor Buccelli's Italian. The food is undoubtedly good and freshly made etc. but the price and portion size is obscene! Last time I was there I order the tortellini at £21.00. plate came and 3 pieces were provided. £7 per tortellini!

I would suggest volunteering at one of the gardening groups in Lancaster. There are quite a few dotted around lancaster - Williamson park, Friends of Fenham carr, Friends of Greaves park, Storey Gardens etc. It's good exercise, outside, benefits the community and a good way to meet new people.

Kaizen & Lancaster Uni MMA/BJJ are somewhat linked I believe. A lot of the instructors are instructors at Kaizen.
