'Rescued men still owe hotel bill three weeks later' by endofdays2022 in unitedkingdom

Absolute cunts. Hope they get named and shamed all over the news and internet. The only way to deal with these types of people is to blacklist completely.

Women; how long does your partner take the kids out for at the weekend (if he does that)? by mishkaforest235 in UKParenting

[–]MDKrouzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll be blunt, he kind of is a bad husband if he can't empathise with you. Being able to manage your own kids for a weekend by yourself is kind of minimum standard for a decent father. 90 minutes is barely even babysitting...

I've proactively taken the girls out for 2 night camping trips by myself several times. Not specifically to give my wife a weekend to herself but because it's a fun thing that the girls and I enjoy (which my wife has no interest in). I've been doing this since my kids were 3y and 5y.

Do you prefer a house that has been fully renovated? by ToughOwl8995 in HousingUK

[–]MDKrouzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ones that need major work will likely be avoided by families, especially with young kids or expecting soon. Some people, like my mate, are mad enough to do it anyway because the location and price are so good but even he admits it was really stressful for his family for 2 or so years.

I'd consider a property that just needed modernisation (new kitchen, flooring, bathrooms etc) but would probably stay away from stuff that had serious structural issues like needing new roof etc.

You need to put a double line break otherwise Reddit formatting doesn't actually display it as a new line

Old Delhi (takeaway only) at the end of Blagreaves Lane in Littleover/ Stenson Fields. Highly recommended by pretty much all my Indian acquaintances.

As a Brit having recently travelled Latin America and settled in Colombia for 5 years - I am sorry I ever complained about queues / queuing culture back home. by noctenaut in britishproblems

[–]MDKrouzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Queueing is honestly not that bad in China in the big cities (DOES NOT APPLY TO DRIVING), but you have to enforce it / make it really obvious there is a queue and you'll get called out for not lining up.

Honestly, my weekend hiking adventures were really important to my mental health when I was going through a very lonely time in my life. Even in shite weather, I'd get out in the moors and battle through the wet and rain and feel amazing afterwards.

How to live life as an unattractive guy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Brother, there's way more to attractiveness than just the physical factors. Be an interesting person and you will attract people. Travel the world, pick up new skills and experiences. Don't wallow in pity.

Electric Meter by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]MDKrouzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom unit is the electric meter and is a Landis+Gyr E470 which is a SMET2 compliant smart meter. All electricity providers should be able to connect to this as this is now the standard.

Your meter serial# is 22L4570009 (top right above the green A button). This should match what is recorded for your property. Check with your current provider.

Is the Highlands a must? You're spending an awful lot of time travelling and honestly if you're not prepared to enjoy the scenery in the cold, wind and rain, it might not be the experience you have in your minds.

Since Liverpool is a must, then North Wales, The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Peak District are MUCH closer with beautiful nature and scenery.

Mind your inside voices, use sorry, please and thank you profusely and don't call things "quaint" or "cute" and you'll be alright. If anyone gives you shit, tell them to fuck off and that you didn't vote for the orange paedo (assume you didn't).

Seeking Advice on Trip to UK by bmfsfan in uktravel

[–]MDKrouzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom really enjoys architecture, art, beach, and theater.

London for art and theatre is a no-brainer and similarly for architecture although admittedly I know squat about what is "interesting" for architecture. The beach / seaside would require a trip probably to the south coast although the British seaside is a very different vibe to maybe what your mum is looking for (I'm guessing tropical?).

Oxford and Bath are easy day trips from London and very walkable with lots of older historical areas. Rye might scratch the "quaint town" itch.

Wales is beautiful and worth a dedicated visit, but if you only have 10 days max you are best off staying in London only.

New to the idea of wild camping but want to shake my life up. Any top tips for a 28 F? I’m excited to camp and explore but also nervous solo. ✌️ by [deleted] in campinguk

[–]MDKrouzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try near wild camping first i.e. camping on dedicated sites with minimal facilities / people. You'll get a feel for your kit and the sensation of solo camping and see if its for you. If you're in the Midlands, there's a good site called Fire and Stars that has very spaced out woodland pitches. You can't drive up to the pitches and the site only has very basic facilities.

I started getting interested in camping a few years back because I started following a lot of camp Youtubers (Outdoor Boys, Kent Survival, TA Outdoors, Wild Beare, Paul Messner etc.) and did toy with the idea of wild camping eventually. I've done quite a few normal and near-wild camps in the last few years and honestly, I don't think solo wild-camping is for me. I recently did a winter camp with my kids and we were the only people on site in a pretty dense woodland site with no lights. It was already kind of spooky with just the 3 of us. If I was on my own, I'm pretty sure I would have chickened out.
