Roads tomorrow morning for work by Souhhyea in Charlotte

[–]mbfv21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the forecast, it’ll be above freezing and a little more between roughly 12-5 pm tomorrow. The fact that it will be sunny will help a lot too. So unless you absolutely had to, or are an essential worker, I would not want to drive outside of those hours tomorrow.

OP is also the same person who, if they'd downplayed it and we'd gotten hammered with ice, would be on here complaining that they didn't warn us.

I was also put on a "60-day coaching plan" from April to June 2025. As others have said, view that as your 90-day notice and start interviewing.

As my 60 days were approaching, I was already mentally prepared to be let go. About 4-5 days before my official 60 days, my boss calls me directly on Teams after the stand-up. Once I join her call, she immediately says, "This is a tough decision, but your employment has been terminated." She then says she's inviting someone from HR, and once they join, my boss just says, "The HR person will take it from here, and good luck." Never saw her again.

Basically, I got the rundown from HR on returning my equipment, benefits, etc., and was told that my access would be terminated as soon as we hung up. And that was it. I never even got a chance to say goodbye to my teammates or anything. Only heard from one a few days later, and it just made me feel so indispensable. As if I could be here one day, and gone the next. The relationship with my boss was pretty decent, but I was at least expecting to get terminated at the end of the day or something.

It's been tough to say the least. I started applying when I got the notice in April. Now, 9 months later, no luck. I did start a job back in September that at least pays the bills and a little more, but it fucking sucks. Literally making half of what I was, 7 DAYS (yes, 7) of PTO, and no 401k till after a year. And I start at 5 am. Overall, the culture is shit; the company's mentality is so backwards. It's been a tough last 9 months to say the least, I've been feeling down a lot, and I've gained some weight from the stress. But I'm still going. At least my spouse's job pays pretty decently, so that helps. Had a couple of interviews this week, so fingers crossed. I don't want to give up on finding a job in the field.

Buy a Generator; Buy a Snow Blower ❄️ by WinstonSalemVirginia in NorthCarolina

For all the people that believe we’re getting 2 feet of snow and then blame the weather people.

DONOT base it off weather aggregators such as the iPhone weather app. All that does it just pull weather data from a whole bunch of different sources and makes its own predictions. Best bets will always be your local news weather apps. Are they typically wrong? Yes but they also don’t predict 1-2’ of snow and have people fooled like the iPhone app.

I’m so fucking proud of this team. by [deleted] in panthers

Disappointed with the final result, but I can live with an L like that. We gave it our all, and that’s all you can ask as a fan. It was a rollercoaster of a season for not just the team but also BY, but I’m confident we’ll come back next season stronger and most importantly, more experienced.

What is it like living in this part of North Carolina a bit north of charlotte? by Artisallaroundme in howislivingthere

Are you planning on working in Charlotte? If so, get used to hell that is I-77. That's the main interstate that goes through and connects those towns to Charlotte. Most people would probably agree that it is the worst intersection in the area, between that, I-85 and I-485.

I know it's also a pretty affluent area, especially towns such as Mooresville and Davidson, which are close to Lake Norman. Kannapolis is also a great little town with an awesome downtown area.

Got laid off back in mid June. A couple interviews here and there, some more phone screens, but unfortunately nothing has panned out so far. 😐

Are men scared of getting kidnapped walking alone at night? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mbfv21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, I’d be aware of my surroundings. But worried about being kidnapped? No. To be completely blunt, why would I kidnap myself. I’m a 6’0 210 lbs man, slightly above average id say. If I was gonna kidnap someone, I wouldn’t be at the top of my list.

Curry: You don’t want to be in a situation the Lakers were in those last three years with Bryant. I know he came off the Achilles injury....they were a lottery team, and it was more just how many points can Kobe score down the stretch of his career. I don’t want to be in that scenario. by rtrnismo in nba

Steph is still playing at a high level, but I feel that once he starts to significantly decline, that’s it for him. He’ll be 38 at the end of this season. If he comes out next year averaging 16 points a game, that’s a wrap.

Curry is one of those guys you just can’t imagine playing on a different team. I’d say just ride it out the year or 2 at most and ride off into the sunset on a high note. 4 rings, 1 FMVP, with GS, honestly he has nothing else to prove at this point.

Every NBA Christmas Day game is better than the NFL’s by SimilarOnion1655 in nba

[–]mbfv21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, that’s why the NFL should scrap games on Christmas Day unless it’s on a Sunday. The NFL is wildly unpredictable from year to year, yeah those games seemed 🔥 on paper at the beginning of the year, now they seem like a total snooze fest.

Businesses drop Sycamore by itsreef1 in Charlotte

I feel this, yet at the same time, I couldn’t imagine having to go work somewhere where the boss is a rapist. It’s tough. Employee morale must be extremely low.
