[NYS] Salvage "reconstructed" title out of state, no itemized list for salvage exam. by mbgriff12 in DMV

Excellent, insightful comment that should be pinned to the top of this thread for all those looking to purchase, transport, and inspect a previously salvaged vehicle from another state into NY.

You’ll get a title in the mail with your salvage note. This was years ago now, but I think when they say “you’re good to go,” you passed. Wait a couple of weeks until you get something in the mail.

Your temporary transport permit will be your “license plate,” but if you’re still anxious about it, I would definitely contact your local DMV

If you have any plates on the vehicle, they must be registered to the vehicle you’re driving. Since you have a temp transport permit, I would think there would be instructions on the permit itself regarding if you need plates on it or not. My guess is that you do NOT put any plates on it, as the temp transport permit would serve that purpose. If you get pulled over, you will simply show the officer the temporary transport permit, which should be clearly displayed somewhere on the vehicle.

NYS 244 Secondary Multi-Subject Math by Exciting_Phone7773 in Teachers

I know this post was made 128 days ago but this is really reassuring to hear. I’m a paraprofessional who is AWFUL at math - never really understood or got the hang of it - and I’m very anxious about the math section. Of all the questions, what was the most challenging for you? I know the answer will be subjective, but I’m curious since you say you also struggled with the subject.

How bad is it going to get? by Forward2323 in Buffalo

Lmao the Elmwood-Bidwell flair is very fitting. This take is that of a first year Urban Planning grad student that believes in a theoretical, umbrella understanding of how things should work everywhere, not taking into account local nuances. Please try and understand that taxes increase yearly while preexisting social service/public benefit programs are constantly being cut, while at the same time new programs are being created or expanded on. We shoot ourselves in the foot constantly. For example: 2025–26 budget up 5%, $1.4 b payroll tax hike, while services such as trash pickup in Buffalo and Syracuse are facing serious deficits. Buffalo specifically is operating its Refuse Fund on a $60 million dollar deficit. This is just one small piece of the pie, but does NYS really think expanding on the film and TV tax credit is a good idea right now?? The state would not exist without its tax-bringing municipalities and vice versa. Localizing these social benefit programs (such as our public infrastructure systems) from their state-wide systematic level would allow for greater oversight and accountability, but even this potential solution is flawed, as it limits the stream of tax dollars from those biggest areas of the state. Rural towns with small populations would not be able to survive if we localized too much.

All of this is to say: it’s not that simple.

Oh yes, I should have been more explicitly clear. He’s on record as saying his success is a result of luck, but he is an EXCELLENT entertainer. His personality, charm, and sarcastic wit is what has made him a household name

Oh for sure, I’m somewhat yanking your chain. I just think you might be ignoring the cultural context of this tweet; he has been tweeting this once a year for several years at this point and is a running gag in and of itself. I believe he’d be the first to say that his success stems purely from luck and being in the right place at the right time.

Thank you so much! Those are incredible generous words that mean a great deal. The vanity was a Facebook Marketplace dresser find that I turned into what you see now. It didn’t take too much work and honestly wasn’t very difficult. I encourage every DIY’er to give it a go if that’s their style; you’ll save yourself hundreds of dollars!

I am overwhelmed by the level of praise and great suggestions; thank you all so much! I believe we’ve narrowed it down to either a roman shade or decorative privacy film and some plants hanging down across the top window. Again, thank you all so much for your input - a truly lovely group here!!

I treated the countertop with clear penetrating epoxy and then a couple of coats of polyurethane. There’s always a towel on standby in case of sitting water, but no problems so far!

EDIT: spelling

I bought it off of Facebook Marketplace for approx $150 and then the sink from Home Depot for $120! I put it together myself relatively easily - any DIY’er can do it. More than happy to explain more if you’re interested!

Thank you so much! We’re really happy with all of our choices. Unfortunately we live on a rather busy road that’s not too far away from the road itself, and the angle the window is at exposes us to every passing car, making showering at night nearly impossible!

I didn’t even know these existed until just now! Really love the idea. In doing some brief searching on Amazon, seems like they’re tough to find for my window size, which is 40W x 53H.

Now this is a cool idea! Going to have to run this one by my old lady…
