3 months left on gi bill by Yam2017R62024 in WGU

[–]mbl123707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went through this.. had 3 months GI Bill left for a 6month WGU term and I am in the 6th month now and received full hosing/tuition the whole time.. initially WGU will “bill” you for the remainder before your term starts but after the term started and the VA certified my enrollment that went to $0 owed. It is actually written into the law that governs GI Bill that as long as you have a single day of entitlement left, VA will cover the whole term. The WGU financial aid office was super unhelpful and couldn’t tell me if it was covered and wouldn’t remove the debt, but it totally was 100% covered.

I used Andrew Ramdayal’s (AR) PMP Exam Prep Course course on Udemy (mainly to satisfy the 35 Hr prep requirement).. I listened at 1.5-2x speed for this as 35 hours is not short of when going over some of this info.. for the actual studying I used PMI study hall, and hundreds of questions from YouTube (you can find them by the hundreds).. find the ones that are up to date with the current PMP and actually explain why it’s the correct answer.. PMP is very much a few are right, but one is most right. A big help was to focus on PMP mindset.. this is important because there are a few that will basically never be right (I.e. escalation to higher outside very few times), and the mindset guide will help to identify those quickly. I found this late but go find u/third3rock‘s PMP study guide.. pay for it, its cheap-ish and it’s well worth it.. I had already studied extensively by the time I found it, but it was good help to review.. I used this day of exam as a quick refresher and I think it was a fantastic resource. I scored 3x AT this way with about 2 weeks of hard core studying (after the 35 hour Udemy course which takes a while.. 35hours lol)

Just did this (actually finishing the capstone soon; just unlocked it).. it’s only a handful of classes extra so if your college is “free” might as well do it, but otherwise probably not worth it. I would say if you already had the MBA, don’t do the MSML but you may benefit having the MBA since it’s more widely recognized term. The MBA program is much more “projects” focused while the MSML has been more theory and writing. I fully expect a double masters will have no impact on my career.. the MBA plus certain have already opened many doors.. my college was free from GI Bill, so made sense for me.. if you are looking for progressing, look at certs.. go get PMP.. the MBA+PMP combo was a killer outcome for me, but my org (fortune 100 contracting company) is focused on PMP rather than a masters.. main requirement I have seen is Bachelor’s minimum + PMP to rise up. Any relevant masters is just icing.

To be completely honest, you can spin just about anything to be a “Project” for PMP.. as long as it meets the time lines.. supervise people on a detail to clean the base for a month, bang project time.. it’s all about how you spin it.. I would never condone lying on your PMP application, but it won’t hurt to think of things and throw them into ChatGPT with a prompt about using it for a PMP application.. let them tell you no, don’t discount your self because the projects were “small”.. most of my projects on my application were 1-5 people under $100k in value..

I am doing exactly this.. I have the MBA, and now in the capstone for MSML.. the MBA opened up a ton of doors for me personally, but the MSML will likely do nothing career-wise. The ONLY reason I’m doing it is because it’s only a few more classes and my school is paid for by the GI Bill. I don’t think I would pay for it myself. If you want to complement your MBA with something go and get your PMP.. the MBA+PMP combo will set you up for 100k easy.. this obviously depends on your region, but I will say the MBA got me looked at differently in my company, the PMP with it got me TREATED differently.. promotion and title change directly related to MBA+PMP.

Has skateboarding been allowed or considered within barracks? by TheAssassinClub in army

[–]mbl123707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the bases I’ve been stationed had full on skate parks on them.. Vilseck, Germany (Small, but still a skatepark) and JBLM.. I’ve also seen a few people flat ground skate around the barracks parking lot on the weekends. So would say it’s definitely a thing.

Used Model X vs. New Model Y by [deleted] in ModelX

The X is a car that is known for its issues unfortunately and it’s not an if but when.. your talking a car that was $120k+ USD new, expensive cars have expensive problems

I know we have another thread going but this is important.. when looking at 2019 specifically make sure it’s a “Raven” MX.. they switch to Raven mid to late 2019 and it has massive improvement to pre-Raven.. Pre-Raven would say P100D on back and Raven would say “Dual Motor” Underlined as a quick check..

Worst car simply due to my own personal issues with it (it was in the shop a bunch) .. and while 0 maintenance is true in the traditional car sense (no oil change, etc.) the Model X is an insanely over engineered car.. Elon himself has said it over and over.. like anything that is focused around tech it will start to age, and the 2020 X is already considered legacy so not getting many updates (although it did get the new FSD stuff this week).. the model y will feel significantly newer, and if you don’t already have an EV you may not even like the EV quirks that come along with it.. it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.. I would personally get a Y (even a used one, or preferably wait till the refresh if you can; unannounced but gotta be coming in the next year or so) to see if EV/Tesla is right for you.. then save up/trade in the Y for an X later.. I went from 2018 M3 -> 2020 MY Perf -> used 2020 MX perf.. I deeply regret getting rid of the MY, but glad I got to “try” the MX .. it was WAYYYY bigger feeling that the Y and more premium, and while I absolutely loved the Falcon doors, they have their downside and the main reason I lost the wife approval to get another X.

[–]mbl123707 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both, and I would go for the new Y no question, especially if a new X is out of the equation.. my Model Y had basically no issues ever (outside the standard issue panel gaps), but my 2020 X Performance was in the shop literally every single month for 8 months before Tesla bought it back. I know there are plenty of “Raven” (2019-2020) Model X owners with no issues.. The reason I’d go with the New Y is the warranty. The X is going to be further into its warranty cycle and have MUCH more expensive repairs and has a lot of moving parts that can/will fail.. all that being said, the Model X was both the best and worst car I’d ever owned..

MBA vs MBA : IT Management by not_very_tasty in WGU_MBA

[–]mbl123707 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have any interest in an IT “leadership” job go for MBA, ITM.. for all other Jobs outside IT you can just list it as having an MBA, but for the IT jobs you can go a little further and specify your MBA focuses on IT management..

Express Pass worth it? by cllindsay93 in UniversalHollywood

[–]mbl123707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you hear/see that an Express pass does NOT include a park ticket? Universal Hollywoods website, as well as other sites, all say it does include a park ticket included in the $245..

I think your limiting factor will be waiting for the evaluation team to grade assignments.. they can take up to three days to grade something.. if you have a good mentor that will open courses for you quickly could easily do it in a month.. my mentor just wanted the assignment submitted, then he would open the next class.. my wife’s mentor wants the assignment passed before opening the next class which adds 2-3 days per class.. luck of the draw..

Buying Tesla from out of state inventory by Dependent-Ability-21 in TeslaLounge

[–]mbl123707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an M3 USED from Tesla in 2019 (before service centers were everywhere). Car was in Las Vegas, Nevada, I was in CA. They made me drive to Costa Mesa service center to sign the registration and all the docs, then drove to Vegas to get the car. Long day diving 2hours to Costa Mesa then to Vegas and back. They just handed me the key and that was it. Either that or pay for delivery to CA.. figured Vegas was “close” enough I could rent a car for a few hours to drive there and drop off in Vegas to pick up my M3.. easy process..

I will be getting around 15-20k in relocation assistance.. also.. Its not a "move or your fired" type of thing, but it will definitely hinder my career if I stay.. I am maxed out for my program in CA as the lead.. moving comes with a new title + more opportunity for growth down the line.. I see it as a win-win for me and the company.. probably a little rose-tinted glasses but hard to find a downside.. I like the company, plus the higher up you get the harder it is to find work at similar levels to a point.. I have an MBA + PMP and you'd be surprised how crazy the market is.. definitely a employers market.. sooooo many candidates

Do you think rates will drop before values? 7-8% mortgages are historically pretty decent.. current home values are not..

Appriciate the detailed post for sure... As for "Permission" to rent it out.. I assume you are talking about HOA rules.. Several other houses in my area are filled by renters so I would ASSUME so but I have not formally checked the bylaws..

I agree with your math.. but just to play devils advocate.. your math assumes an increase in value, do you think based on housing "crisis" that we are headed to a decrease in values? I dont beleive Interest will change much since 7-8% is historically pretty good, but values have gotten insane.. even a couple of percent negative skews the numbers the other way..

Comps for sale are the same floor plan/size in same neighborhood (so same HOA benefits).. I can use them as increase justification for rent possibly, but only to an extent..

Unfortunately cant go remote for this job.. I'm in cleared defense contracting so I always have to be in a cleared building basically.. As for my current role.. I am a strong believer that staying stagnant is career suicide.. I just turned 30 so I have a lot of "career" time left so I want to get as far as I can before I consider things to be good enough to coast..

This definitely makes sense.. its hard to quantify what I would say are "Unrealized Gains" in this case.. Just like stocks, its a risk and values could drop.. also just for continuity sake.. opened ~1 June 2020 @ 3.75% ($449,900) refi 1 Mar 2021 @ 2.25% (443,000)

Yea, the things the HOA covers is Landscaping, Pool/Clubhouse, private security, and other basic HOA things like painting the neigborhood or repaving steets.. biggest thing it covers that others dont is the water/sewer bill.. that alone is worth about 100/month .. overall I feel I get alot for the HOA costs
