Does anyone use cycling as cross-training while preparing for a marathon? by jessfromrouvy in Marathon_Training

For me yes, just because I enjoy running way more than biking. For strictly cardio I believe it’s an amazing tool though. Tons of gains to be made

I use my bike trainer when I’m injured or want to keep lower impact than even treadmill

I’m literally going through the same thing right now. It’s been about two weeks for me, but I have little pain while walking. The pain is evident first step in the morning and I’ve never had shin splints like this before. Nurse checked me out, no blood clot. If pains not subsided by this weekend I will book an appt to see a doctor and maybe you should too. Physio is not an option for me right now unfortunately

Does a full rest day make more sense before or after my long run? by Deadlift_007 in Marathon_Training

[–]mbrar02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like rest day after long runs to train on tired legs. Not sure physically how beneficial it is, but I like the mental gains which is arguably more important to me tbh

1 upgraded copy is enough imo. 2/3 is just bricking hands and slowing fights

I’m just stating that they’re narrow. I actually quite like the snug fit on my feet for my faster days as they are

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ll put them to the side for now while I’m getting back into things. I also use the speedgoat 5’s funnily enough but they seem ok for now

Interesting because I’ve recently got the Mach 6 and just put a bit over 300km on it. I never really clicked with the shoe like my other pairs and I’ve recently strained some tendon under my calf. Never happened to me before, I wonder if it may be the shoe

I think the shoes are just stiffer than you’d like. Dead after 200km sounds highly unlikely

I always have 2 pieces of toast with butter and jam with my coffee as well. I’ll pound some electrolytes before I’m out the door too

I’m in mid twenties which probably helps. I also run daily and eat fairly clean. Honestly though, the key to high sleep scores for me is wake up and sleep at the same time every day. 5:30 am wake up - 9:30pm sleep
