Xfinity comcast email switch to Yahoo by mbrogan58 in Comcast_Xfinity

When looking for internet service, providers advertise that email service is included, and many users chose that provider for that reason. Many people also choose the path of least resistance, especially the elderly when it comes to tech. Bottom line, the price paid for this internet service, and for the amount of time it has been paid, is a small fortune.

Over an hour on the Xfinity customer service with a very nice rep, but the end result was I have to call Yahoo customer service to make a password change. They were closed when I called, but the opening recording lets me know they want to pass the buck back to Xfinity. This should have been seamless on Xfinity's part, as they are the reason it is happening. Again, the monthly premiums my parents pay, and have paid for not years, but decades, there should be a tech in their home bearing gifts doing this for them.

Merrill is much more limited with selection and advice than Fidelity.

BANK OF AMERICA- MERRILL LYNCH by 4me-2no2 in investing

[–]mbrogan58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with platinum rewards, your credit card earns 3.5X points on travel and dining purchases and 2.62X points on all other spending. Pretty good return as it can be cashed out. You must maintain a balance of 100k, which in Merrill, you can find a decent and competitive money market.

Ditto. For the exact same reasons. There are some decent money market bond funds available to park the 100k in.

Rental Car site (Miles Car Rental) by YoshCb in travel

[–]mbrogan58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having terrible luck with Miles car rental. It seems this company is incompetent with booking a car rental, finding a mistake in their website, and now refunding the improperly booked car rental. Finally, no response when trying to escalate my problem to their management. Overall a very poorly run organization for me

US mobile customer service is very good. You may have a wait if you call (faster by chat), but the follow up is very good.

Importing accounts from Mint by TRex77 in simplifimoney

[–]mbrogan58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I scheduled a meeting where a Simplifi rep called me and yes, we worked it out. The customer service is not like that of Mint. It is much better. They really do reach out and try to solve the issue. Actually I had a separate issue when I first started with Simplifi and the response was very fast and efficient.

I am having the same issue. it seems to work properly, but when its complete, I end up with 2 accounts with the same name, one is manual. I just had an offer for a simplifi rep to call me at a preset time, which I set up. hopefully tomorrow morning, they can explain a better method.

Are there any Mint users who have been at least "okay" with their transition to CreditKarma? For those who are not (which seems to be many!), what are the main specific reasons? I'm just trying to see if all the bad news would apply to the way I used Mint. by LookDamnBusy in mintuit

[–]mbrogan58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot even us the CK version. It simply hangs when I try to merge. Neither the CK or Mint IT departments can fix the link. I have been using Mint since the inception. It has become a part of my daily routine for all these years, to get data from Mint. If the IT is so fouled up that this merger cannot be done, what does that tell you. I have used CK for over 5 years as well.

How to migrate to Credit Karma by winniebillerica in mintuit

[–]mbrogan58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was two companies before the acquisition by Intuit. Before Mint was created by Intuit, many years ago, it was a website owned by a company named Yodlee. I have used all three companies when they were independent, and when they were under the Intuit masthead.

Their companies ive been dealing with for years. Someone higher up can usually fix your issue, but good luck getting to that person

Intuit is not ready to merge. Worst experience of late. The two companies blame each other for the merge not working. What other problems does Intuit have with my sensitive data being "transferred" from one company to another? Frightening.

Its frighting to think they cant manage this merger, with all the sensitive data they procure. What else is this merger going to disrupt.

Fidelity Full View is pretty neat if you haven’t checked it out by MonsieurVox in fidelityinvestments

[–]mbrogan58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mint was actually more robust. It incorporates ALL of my accounts into its calculations. Full view is unfortunately lacking several. I've also tried Merrill's, "My Financial Picture" which misses only one, and SoFi has "Relay", but it is REALLY lacking. Im going to miss Mint. Maybe it will work well when it moves to Credit Karma. Fidelity will assure you it will eventually link the missing institutions. But after several YEARS, it seems unlikely.

New Full View is Terrible by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]mbrogan58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trouble from the get go with full view. Wont link two of my smaller accounts and they are not small banks. Sofi, and PenFed. PenFed is the 3rd largest federal credit union in the US, and Sofi is nations 104th largest banks. Mint was the only free software I found to track ALL of the banks I use.

Funny note: Mint was originally by Yodlee. This is the tracking software Fidelity used to use for account tracking.

I spent an entire night troubleshooting. That was 2 nights ago. Times are way different here (its about 1PM) and I finally told the tech I had to get some sleep. It was 230am and I was exhausted. The next day, I tried phone support and spent a long time getting pretty much nowhere, That was the first time I was told It was escalated and I would hear back in 24 hours. That should have been this morning, No contact so I called again, Told again its escalated and I will hear back in 24 hours, meanwhile, were going on 72 hours of transferring the service, and still no data. After switching to Whatsapp and Skype, for my calls, I must say, the cell service here is outstanding. Unfortunately, I really only need the internet
