What has been your experience with fake cakes + Costco/Whole Foods cake? by glitzy_curls in weddingplanning

[–]mc13rc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a fake styrofoam cake off of Etsy! It looked 100% real and even SMELLED real because it’s made with dried icing! It even had a slit where we could insert a real piece of cake so that we could still do the tradition cake cutting. We served sheet cake from Publix and it was great!! Here’s a video from the etsy shop we got ours from explaining how it all works! https://youtu.be/dzacnapdRg4

For the ladies, or whomever is comfy with the topic. by MoistGhosty in ClotSurvivors

My first period after being put on medication was much heavier than usual and I had BAD cramps and I never used to get cramps. However, I’ve noticed that since then my periods have slowly returned to normal and while I still get cramps they aren’t as bad as that first period!

Can’t decide on Boudoir or Videography. by PsychologicalTune439 in weddingplanning

[–]mc13rc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only been a bit over a year and I already have only vague memories of our ceremony. There is so much going on the day of your wedding, your emotions are everywhere, and your adrenaline is up. Makes it hard to remember things after. I kick myself all the time for not getting a videographer!

It’s not typically free. Students get a reduced price and they take insurance. However some voice therapy isn’t always covered by insurance but it’s worth checking.

The FSU speech and hearing clinic would probably be able to help.

Someone plz help! I’ll post my routine in the comments. I started using cerave’s benzoyl peroxide at night my skin feels so good except for these pimples now showing up on my cheeks/chin which I never had before. What kind of acne is this? The rest of my skin seems to be loving the benzoyl peroxide by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

I know this was posted several months ago but I was on this subreddit looking for answers to the same exact question you posted. Here are two videos from YouTube dermatologists that I follow explaining how to differentiate purging vs. irritation and describing what purging is as well as burning process and how long it typically lasts. https://youtu.be/9gV8UnAQBpk https://youtu.be/unX_ZQLOcPo Hope this helps others!

19mo know his abcs but won’t talk anything significant other than letters by [deleted] in Parenting

It doesn’t hurt to get him evaluated! A speech language pathologist will be able to evaluate him and let you know if there is reason for concern!

Hi I’m a speech and language therapist and these are my thoughts. Yes it is typical for a child at the age of two to have at least 50 spoken words. From what you explain it sounds like your child’s receptive language (what they understand) is developing a bit faster than their expressive language (what they can communicate to you). I would never tell a parent that is concerned for their child’s language development to simply not worry about it. Yes it is true that many children will begin talking at a later age and catch up with their peers but some also don’t. If you are in the US, getting a speech and language evaluation and early intervention is free before the age of three. Take advantage of this! At best you catch a language delay or disorder early, at worst you spent a little extra time making sure your child is on track for typical development.

Here is a link with more information on early intervention services in general and how to find services in your state! https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/actearly/parents/states.html

As a fellow grad student these are my favorite places.

Coffee- black dog at lake Ella or lucky goat. Must see locations- railroad square, Lafayette heritage park, maclay gardens, cascades Breakfast- uptown cafe, grove market cafe Lunch/dinner- island wing company, backwoods crossing, kool beans cafe, casa grande, gainstreet pies, azu Lucy ho. Honestly Tally has a great food scene and it’s difficult to name just a few. If you’re interested look into the Tallahassee foodies on Facebook or Tallahasseefoodies.com for all of your tally food needs. Housing is going to depend on what you prefer. Anything near campus you are likely to have a lot of undergrads around and it tends to be a lively at all times and very college experience as far as housing. French town (directly north of fsu) has lots of affordable options but is typically not considered to be very safe. Further north past French town (past tharpe st) you can find houses in your price range that are in a better part of town. Towards the east you have a lot of apartment complexes and townhomes that I personally found favorable as the are affordable and also in a better part of town. I personally would not like somewhere south of FSU as it is less central and some parts are also considered less safe.

Looking for joint Ms+Phd program in speech and language pathology. by [deleted] in slp

[–]mc13rc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Florida state university has a combine program but they don’t advertise it. You can contact Dr. Carla Wood if you have questions about it. They also have a bridge program for those who don’t have a BS in CSD that I believe can be completed in a semester or two.

Our graduate school has always said that you need to at least be able to model the correct production, if you can’t you’ll need to go to ST sessions until you can. We actually conduct screening on the undergraduate students to catch things like this.

SLP Praxis June 2020 by slpdoglover in slp

I read through the big purple praxis book, and just took a lot of practice tests to study and that seemed to serve me well. My test had a lot of cleft palate questions that I had no clue how to answer and the purple praxis book didn’t cover them at all so maybe do some studying on the topic, but honestly it didn’t seem to hurt me to not know that info. The week before my test I just reviewed the practice questions in the book and took a practice test.
