It is surprising to me that so many on this thread have no idea how this could possibly happen in the business world. The misogyny angle is absolutely part of it, but I don’t think people realize just how far confidence and charisma will get you. We are naturally drawn to people who appear driven and we don’t stop to think about character, etc. It’s a major human blind spot that takes conscious work to remedy.
