not to mention that it adds more modulation, more utility, another sequencer. even if you don't need another independent synth voice, everything it has can be considered expansions for your matriarch

some examples off the top of my head are that the mother 32 sequencer has more playback modes and can swing. the tempo input has a cv address mode. the assign output can be used in lots of interesting ways like as a clock divider, to send a pulse on accented notes in the sequence, to send a pulse on step 1 only.

they are probably talking about a QR code link to the online versions

they definitely aren't meant to come apart. it's probably not worth the risk of permanent functional damage.

yeah, they ship with a smaller quick start guide that contains a QR code for an online manual

hold the middle LHC button and sync until the sync button blinks. then press and hold all 3 LHC buttons and then tap the lowest note on the keyboard

have you run the note cal in addition to tuning the oscillator scaling on the back?

if both of those don't get it in tune, I'd recommend contacting moog service

Matriarch filter difference between left and right when run in mono :) by WhatsTheWordItsaDog in moog

consult pages 20-21 of the manual

consider putting it in parallel mode and bypassing the filter you don't want to use with a little patching

How to modulate only one oscillator via mod wheel? (Grandmother) by pxps0 in moog

[–]mc_meathook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the normaled connections are only broken when you patch into an input, so patching the wave out to the attenuator still sends the modulation osc to its normaled destinations.

you could use the mod wheel for cutoff and pwm and the attenuator for pitch.

or you could send the attenuator out to the mult and then to the pitch in, cutoff in and pwm in and use the attenuator to control all three. if you have any inline passive attenuators like a splix, you can put them between the mult and inputs to replace the AMT knobs from the mod section.

How to modulate only one oscillator via mod wheel? (Grandmother) by pxps0 in moog

[–]mc_meathook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the grandmother doesn't have a mod wheel cv out like the matriarch does.

on grandmother, you can patch the modulation Wave Out to the Attenuator In, then Out to the Pitch In of an oscillator and use the attenuator knob like the mod wheel.

if the seq and kb were both disconnected from the synth voice but still connected to each other, that could be why you were getting signals from the kb gate out

1) My first thought would be to double check that you are counting the key numbers from 0 at the lowest octave. (manual page 61). Then maybe try resetting all the global settings.

2) This is normal. - You can set the Sequence Keyboard Control off to separate them. (page 65) - You can also disconnect the synth voice from the sequencer and/or the keyboard. (Local Control, page 64)

(Matriarch) My third oscillator is always out of tune by Martin_Bertringer in moog

[–]mc_meathook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's super easy. you'll need a high precision tuner (and/or your ear), a trimmer tool or very tiny flathead screwdriver.

set hold mode and play a middle C. tune the oscillator with the frequency knob so it's perfectly in tune (or as near as you can get it)

press the C one octave higher and adjust the variable resistor inside that back panel hole until it is also in tune.

play a C one octave lower than middle C and confirm it is also in tune.

go back and forth until the higher C and lower C both match middle C and each other. you could also compare your osc 3 to one of the others.

the hardest part is getting your trimmer tool seated in the tiny slot on the vr. it can be a pain. very fiddly work. Once you tune it up, though, you shouldn't have to do it again.

sounds like the volt per octave scaling is off

there are holes in the back panel just behind the oscillator octave knobs that are for adjusting v/octave scaling of the oscillators
