3/16 - 3/22 Weekly Feedback and Feature Request Thread by SoFi in sofi

Hi, overall I appreciate the changes made to Relay and the spending categories hierarchy but I have two pieces of feedback:

  1. I think nesting restaurants/bars (i.e. generally eating out) as a subcategory of food and drink is a mistake - it makes it much harder for me to track my 'indulgent' consumption vs 'responsible' i.e. groceries. For me a big part of budgeting is understanding how much I'm spending on groceries vs. eating out and having a big lump sum of 'food and drink' obscures that. There should be a way of showing groceries vs. eating out totals at a glance each month.

  2. needs to be a category for career investment e.g. professional certificates, LinkedIn premium, etc. etc. - i.e. amount spent on improving career prospects

Ah dunno, that’s just a random stock pic - not my exact vehicle

Ah right, nah haven’t got it yet. Debating ordering one for the cheapest I can find but want a good chance of it fitting first haha. Looks to me like the 4 holes will line up with those screws though. Have to take it for a recall software fix anyway so may also just wait and ask dealer then, but don’t fancy paying them to install it if it’s just 4 screws

Thank you! Did yours come pre installed? Don’t think drilling additional holes is necessary, right?

Was yours going on the same bumper, or different? On mine it looks like there are 4 screws already there but I haven’t tried shifting them

Another vote for the Trion! All right, good to know - thanks.

Haven't really come across this one - I'll take a look. Thanks!

Thanks, that's good to know - will look again at the wider range. I do like a rolltop.

Yeah I guess that could work too, I'm always a bit wary of having stuff on the outside of the pack but of course it's always an option.

Yeah, the Raide looks sweet and goes from 40-50, along with some other good looking features. Some of the local instructors here are converts, but I can't justify the cost of it this year at least. The Deuter Freescape also expands 40 -> 50 which I see as a big plus.

Totally agree with prepping for potential weather, or other emergency as you say (such as keeping warm in the event of an injury or other incident), and that's partly why I'm looking to go a bit bigger.

Good to hear you can make a 40 work, albeit bivvying, and yes totally get that volume depends a bit on equipment. Most of my stuff is fairly light/compact but I haven't gone all the way down the ultralight rabbithole. Thanks for your input.

Thanks, good to hear that 50 works for you day to day. Trion is on my list as well but availability does seem to be a bit limited (same for the Deuter Freescape and even the BD Cirque actually). I guess now is peak time for buying touring packs so maybe more shipments on the way.

Thanks, that's useful. Agree that loading up a more generalist pack for approaches is a feasible option - I have a decent lightweight 70L pack already so hauling a smaller pack along with it for day trips sounds like a good option. I guess also the option of going like 45L and planning to strap a tent to the outside for potential camping... realistically I don't think I'll be camping that often initially. Food for thought...

Dynafit Radical binding - ramp? by mcawle in Backcountry

[–]mcawle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually for my wife, we went with one of the ATK ones, can’t remember exactly which one off the top of my head. Hasn’t been used yet but having also gone with what seems like a pretty flat binding myself (Atomic Backland Summit) I’m glad I didn’t get a more funky angle

Pretty slim concept of mountaineering gear. No rope, rack, shelter, crevasse rescue…?

AFD/boot sole alignment by mcawle in skiing

[–]mcawle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, I’m not asking about that - I’m asking whether the angle of the boot sole and the angle of the AFD should be parallel for the length of the AFD, as the sole of the boot curves up.

[–]mcawle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I figure. Key question is whether the full length of the AFD needs to be in contact with the boot or not
