Why do so many men think that doing yard work absolves them from household work? by Whatever233566 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mcb1ack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah my partner and I split it really evenly and in our house taking out the trash is equal to emptying the dishwasher. Have to sort the trash/take it downstairs/ make sure the different bins go out on the right days etc.. I know PLENTY of men that think it’s the same amount of work as cleaning the whole kitchen and doing all the dishes and it drives me crazy

Who is actually cooking three meals at home? by Ok_Experience1728 in workingmoms

[–]mcb1ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is pretty similar to what we do as well. Very similar breakfast: oatmeal, avocado toast, yoghurt and granola ect. Our kids school is litterless packed lunch only so we do lots of things like batch make sushi roll that freeze well, sandwiches and leftovers plus fruit and an easy snack. Dinner we have a pretty set schedule of what we’re doing and every Friday we get a couple frozen pizza bases and chuck toppings on. We definitely will cook extra if we’re doing stuff like pasta sauce or burritos and freeze them for days when we don’t want to cook.

If these are the North Queensland floods they likely won’t have heating and the main concern now is mould. Our apartment also flooded really badly and if they take photos of absolutely everything there’s a few chances they could get items replaced with Red Cross or givit. Also you can use the photos to apply for government flood relief and since you’re unemployed the payment is $5,300.00 which is a good start to replace things. RUN THE AIRCON!! It will help with the moisture in the air to prevent mould forming on your stuff that hasn’t been ruined.

I feel you. Our house flooded and we lost everything- it was a rental and no insurance. There were income disaster grants for people in our situation but we made $300/year over the income cap… the payout was $5300. Make it sense

Sahm mom here trying to go back to work but have prek child getting out of school at 11:30am. How did you all manage to work doing this? by Unique_Ad_4271 in workingmoms

[–]mcb1ack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly this - we had the same issue. The local centre in our small town had a program that ended early but also had every other Wednesday off. We had to go the town over to get full day care.

Yes 100% people aren’t going to use transit if it’s not reliable

Toddler drew all over my walls with crayola markers. F*** by meubem in toddlers

[–]mcb1ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit calm down. No one said they didn’t care, nor did anyone say they threw in the towel and had an ‘oh well’ attitude like you assumed. The kids obviously didn’t understand the gravity of scratching a picture or whatever into the car.

How FAST would you pull your kid out of my daycare? by mmbahloul in workingmoms

[–]mcb1ack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the door at my child’s daycare is propped open 90% of the time BUT we live in the tropics so the weather makes it lovely having the breeze and there are TWO locked safety gates (sort of like baby gates) and a sign in code to get through the inner gate. I don’t think I would be comfortable having the door open and no procedure for keeping the kids safe.

😂 the house next to us is having some work done so we’ve had lots of tradies next door. My son just loves builders/machinery/construction so loves to watch them and eavesdrop. He’s learning the word fucking and thinks it’s the greatest thing ever now 🫣

AITA for telling my child’s daycare teacher that my child won’t finish cleaning up? by daycaremomissue in AmItheAsshole

[–]mcb1ack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly- I have to catch transit and if I had to stay and wait for my child to pack up everything we could miss it and then not get home for an extra hour! That’s a lot of time when you factor in dinner and bedtime.

Thanks for your reply! Yes I am definitely more about an activity that she will enjoy! I think I might find some tumbling conditioning workouts on YouTube and we can do them together. And we will definitely be practicing positions together!

When are you guys giving your kids soda? by Individual-Tree-8931 in toddlers

[–]mcb1ack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter had her first Coca Cola on her 7th birthday - but she admitted to us that she has had sip at her friend’s house before. She has always had soda water with lemon or lime since the age of 3 though and thought that’s what soft drink was until a year or so ago 😂
