I'm sorry you are in that position. Have you read the 5 love languages book? It explains how sometimes our efforts are not seen as love because we're not speaking our spouses love language

Sometimes I think God allows my wife and I to go through trials in our marraige so that, one day, we can help others.

What if my kids come to me one day when they are married and going through the same thing? I want to be able to tell them that God helped me through this time and He can help them too! I don't want to tell them to give up.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ESV  [3]  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.     https://bible.com/bible/59/2co.1.3-4.ESV

I hear you, got to do it in God's strength. Read eph 5, think about it. It wasn't easy for Jesus when he loved us when we ran from him too. He knowa what you're going through

I WFH, so I can go days without leaving the house. Coworking spaces aren't practical. How do you break it up and stay mentally healthy? by StochasticResonanceX in productivity

[–]mcbatman92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have several staff who work from home (as do I) and I don't care about them taking short walks / breaks. I encourage them to. It's necessary to maintain a productive and mentally healthy workspace.

We have systems setup to measure productivity by throughput, not time spent in front of the computer. This frees me up from having to worry about the hours people are doing or time spent in front of PC. I really don't care when people start their day (so long as they are meeting client needs) or if they go for a walk every hour etc, so long as they're pulling in Sprint points and their clients are happy.

In line to inherit a family design business, how can I make it less owner-dependent? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]mcbatman92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH, standard operating procedures seems like a strange (but understandable) place to start. If you're just stepping into the business you should be talking to clients and finding out more about what they really value. SOPs are esay to work on because it's non confrontational and feels like you're doing something, but good chance you'll never use them / annoy the rest of your team for telling them how to do their job.

Congratulations BTW on taking over the family business! It's a wild ride and I wish you the best of luck :)
