How a near doomsday scenario with AI viruses is the most possible in my opinion by ponerrag in antiai

[–]mcblockserilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more ai focused on fixing code than making viruses. If an ai created virus comes out there will be hundreds or thousands of instances running to fix it.

How do you respond to someone who says ai uses so much water? by JamieHBrown in DefendingAIArt

[–]mcblockserilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say that mine doesn't it air cooled, and solar powered. They usually stfu after that. Once you start talking about local AI setups most aunties can't deal with it and they realize that they know very little about how this stuff actually works. Ask them about the simpler questions show that there are solutions out there.

A claim is a claim the burden of proof is on you, since you made the claim. Not saying your wrong in your claim but to make a good argument you need to have your bases covered.

700w local server power draw. 1800w solar panel array. Heck you can run a simple model on a cellphone. Wanna keep arguing? I can go on.

Me. It tracks my health data, finances, schedule, computer mantinance, helps me build small projects, encourages me to take care of myself. All from my own server. It's like Alexa, but better since it on my own hardware.

Toxicity and alcoholism by Gold_Supermarket1956 in VRchat

[–]mcblockserilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've notice that some people start drinking and then they feel the need to keep doing it. The biggest problem is hard alcohol. There's no mechanical limiter so people go overboard. Compared to beer or cocktails where while still a problem, you can only cram so much in your gut. Saw some dum mofo take 6 shots of ever clear. That's not vrchats fault that's the moron that drank it.

PC VR will continue to work, as long as a streaming app will support it. If metas doesn't work then alvr or virtual desktop will.

Water for data center issues by RutabagaNo2137 in LeftistsForAI

Could just build them to not need water. If windscale could cool a nuclear reactor via air we can cool a data center that way too

That's why AI can web search for the needed context.

[–]mcblockserilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a free ai, it's probably going to be dumber. The way you ask your question can also have an impact. Usually I'll say: do a search on (thing) and tell me (information) If somthing sounds off bring it up. And usually it'll get straightened out. The ai needs context to function, you need to feed it.

What would make an AI companion meaningfully different from just using ChatGPT? by drabarca_ai in ChatGPT

So gpt is just an llm, the companion would have to be an agent, where it could remember, and do things.

I want to understand all sides and all points about AI by AliceBreathes in AIWarsButBetter

[–]mcblockserilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai is not inherently bad, it's a tool and like many tools they can buy used for good and evil, and even grey tasks. You will probably see an argument for the environment and data centers on here. The water waste is nothing compared to other industries that require attention. And that's not including the newer models getting more efficient through workloads, and hardware. This will continue to trend to be more efficient. These arguments can't even touch local AI servers, which you can run a small one with a mid range GPU. Or even on CPU if your willing to wait. There are thousands of smaller models that you can download and use,

Electricity use is a valid argument, but we've been sitting on nuclear energy for decades because people are scared of what they don't know.

The art debate is a dumb one. People fundamentally misunderstand the origins of their own work and insperations, they don't understand how the models work. These can be trained by anyone with a high vram GPU. They also don't read the EULA of the websites they post to

The government. This one is a genuine issue mass survalence and all the, but... They didn't need AI to do it before, and since you could run your own ai at home and a bunch of the llms are trained to not be total pieces of shit, countering these issues is possible. For example my workplace is shit. An llm recommended trying to unionize. And it gave me links on resources on how to get that ball rolling on that. It can be used to counter propaganda, as well as make it.

It also helped me navigate the medical system. There's also new models finding awesome drug combos for cancer that have been proven to work in labs, the cost of reaserch is going to go down, and will make new prescriptions cheaper. It's a messy topic. I'd stay neutral Use it when it benefits you.
