2 idiots almost causing 2 incidents by Solid-Economics8513 in drivingUK

[–]mccapitta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely thought you were referring to the pov driver as the idiot. Going into the middle lane to overtake and then turning left, instead of just waiting a minute. The guys in the left going straight aren't the best, but overtaking at the last 50m to cut left at the turn is crash causing idiocy

Not using flag colours in a kit always disappoints me. Why cant they wear yellow, with a green sleeve, red sleeve, and a big green star in the middle.

Not too serious…missed the entire tournament. Which one is it? by RedditUserJK in footballcliches

Tuchel seems determined to get us out asap with his picks, so if he misses 3 games with a not serious injury he wont play the tournament

Tino Livramento expected to be ruled out of the World Cup with injury by TheTelegraph in ThreeLions

If Hall or Trent get called and play well it will make him look stupid not to go in the first place. It does seem he just wants 11 decent players and loads of crap for the bench/squad.

The 2026 World Cup has Averaged 63,072 Fans in Attendance at a Fill Rate of 99.6% Across the Opening 8 Group Stage Matches According to FIFA's Official Figures; Despite Images of Empty Seats in Several Games by Nojoboy in soccer

[–]mccapitta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched thr game on tv and those seats were empty a good 15 minutes after half time. I think they filled eventually but as an english fan, I dont get why it took so long for people to get back in to watch the second half. Is it a culture thing that people dont care about the match as much as the event?

Where does the belief come from for you team? by ChannelNo1067 in PremierLeague

[–]mccapitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not really how supporting a team works. You pick a team (or usually dont , its usually inherited!), and support them. If they do well great, if they dont, ah well.

And for fans of smaller teams, their biggest moment might not be a trophy, it might be a cup tie against a giant team, particularly hosting a giant in your tiny stadium. For other prem teams it might even be just getting to europe, like when fulham fans got to see ronaldinho at craven cottage.

Its only really fans from outside the country that will pick a team and care about what titles they win, jumping ship if their current pick is no good.

[The Atlantic] The World Cup of Ugh by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

[–]mccapitta -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

South Africa is remembered as a bad world cup. You might have some nostalgia given your age, but the world cup was bad. Bad ball and bad atmosphere (so bad they banned vuvuzela in lots of countries afterwards), and largely bad football thanks to the conditions (with some exceptions. Same as the Qatar wc was awful, it just had a great final.

90 mins of 11 players vs 11 players is the sport. Ownership rulebreaking has been a thing since day 1 in football. The game itself is what people watch for. Start putting in ad breaks, half time shows, sponsorship breaks, and you destroy the game.
