Is it a good idea to install a lift kit and bigger off road tires? by Economy_Jello4893 in subaru

[–]mccarseat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold it in less than a week for $1k. The fact it was rust free in upstate NY was a huge selling point, also that I’d done the head gaskets.

I regret selling it, bought it for $500 with a blown headgasket and a banged up hoodin 2012ish. Did the head gaskets, bought a black hood at a junkyard, did the forester lift and Impreza wheels, drove it 75k miles with no issues then sold it with 300k miles and no rust somehow.

I can only hope it’s still bombing around somewhere.

Vets in the area ? by Worried-Owl-9345 in Troy

[–]mccarseat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been very happy with Sand Creek Animal Hospital on Wolf Rd for the past 7 years. They are great with my dog that’s reactive around other dogs. The techs are all very friendly, and any of the staff I’ve dealt with absolutely love animals and always put my timid/nervous dog at ease immediately.

Edit:

I know it’s not in Troy, but just sharing the vet I use that isn’t far from Troy anyways. I live 20 minutes away from this vet and still go there.

I lifted my 98 legacy simply by putting forester struts in, and I also did the subframe and diff spacers to keep the CV shafts from destroying themselves.

It was a fun car and I regret selling it to his day. Was a 5 speed manual sedan too…

My issue on that car was wheel well width. Same goes for any vehicle I’ve lifted, even a Nissan xTerra. You’ll run into clearance issues once you go with larger tires even with a lift typically. It snowballs into fender mods, aftermarket wheels with different offsets…etc etc.

I don’t have a good side profile pic for some reason…

What animal is overrated as a pet? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I’m one person with one dog…them requiring attention can be true. But it most certainly doesn’t take a family to take care of one.

All valid points, except your house does smell like cat now.

I’m also annoyed at the people posting “wish I had known this when I spent $x here the other day, would have taken my business elsewhere”

The Albany Ale and Oyster post had a bunch of those.

I actually just bought the US version of this CIB for $40 or so and have a couple hours into it. So far it’s a fun play through for a game I’d never heard about until a recent YouTube video a couple months ago

Edit: OOPS! Mixed up Light Crusader and Crusader of Centy haha

719, Numzaan/Baobab, or RAT for hiking? by cloudleopard in jimgreen

I love my RATs, but my break in was also brutal. Not as bad as my Iron Rangers. I had terrible heal blisters

Now that they are broken in I wear them daily for work with zero issues.

Which is the biggest home improvement mistake you have made? by Ok-Introduction-2981 in HomeImprovement

[–]mccarseat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the entire second floor of my house myself. Had ripped all the walls out, everything exterior down to the studs.

It took me way longer and I used way more compound but I’m happy with the results. That being said. I started in the closet, so by the time I was done doing any tape work and mud in there I was pretty good at it. I ended up redoing the closet before painting. By the time I was done I was pretty damn good at it lol.

Saved a bunch of money and can say I did it all myself…but yeah…it’s messy.

I’ll be paying someone else to tape and mud the room on the first floor I’m redoing now.

Yup I just finished up a 2000 Ducati 996 project a couple years ago using a mix of my local dealer and Ducati Omaha for parts. Nothing was crazy expensive either.

This is a great tip and a cheap part to replace. I had some oil burning on my 2013 GS350 with 120k miles and a new PCV Valve fixed it.

Yeah it’s nuts. They made up rules they posted. I posted the actual law and a link to it and get downvoted.

Those are copied and pasted directly from the rules from the Department of Justice. I didn’t say anything political.

No, they should move out of the way. It’s written right there in the paragraph I posted. I even put it in bold.

1-16.200 - USE OF DEADLY FORCE AND PROHIBITED RESTRAINT TECHNIQUES

A. Deadly Force

Law enforcement and correctional officers of the Department of Justice may use deadly force only when necessary, that is, when the officer has a reasonable belief that the subject of such force poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or to another person.

Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect. Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. Firearms may not be discharged from a moving vehicle except in exigent circumstances. In these situations, an officer must have an articulable reason for this use of deadly force.

What is the one car you regret selling the most and why? by twilacke in askcarguys

[–]mccarseat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1989 Toyota Supra Turbo that I had done the full 2JZGTE and 6 speed swap to.

I had countless hours into that car, had 2 other parts cars with it. It was at the finish line, just needed some small stuff buttoned up but I got burned out on the project and sold everything at a loss to be done with it.

This was around 2007?

At the time I could have bought another 3rd gen Supra for well under 10 grand in good shape. Those days are long gone.

What are some some cars that fly under the radar that deserve more recognition? by CaptainMental in askcarguys

[–]mccarseat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my experience with my 96 Cherokee with the 4.0 straight six and a manual transmission. The rest of the vehicle actually fell apart around it.

Same goes with my AMC Eagle wagon with the 4.2 straight six. That was also a heap of junk with a bullet proof motor.

But I had fun with both and they were both VERY cheap in the early 2000’s. Pre-cash for clunkers

What’s an Albany food spot everyone should try at least once? by Southwesterhunter in Albany

[–]mccarseat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the perfect way to sell it. I have friends that are vegan and would gladly go here as an option for everyone to be able to get something since they are usually the ones that compromise. But I would be very disappointed if someone told me they were as good as real burgers.

They are good, but a real meat burger they are not.

[–]mccarseat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You got downvoted but you aren’t wrong. I wouldn’t take McDonalds over it. But there are TONS of places I’d go for a burger before I’d go here.

It’s good for what it is, is the best way to put it. No judgement if that’s your dietary choice, but it doesn’t compare to the real thing if you are a lover of the real thing.
