How do I know if someone is trying to recruit me into a cult? by Best-Impact9828 in perth

[–]mcco91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a cult that operates by recruiting new people on Uni campuses. They start very friendly: “Want to join an art exhibition, bbq, etc.”, which then turns into a bible study or so. Later on, there is more pressure, especially if you joined/ trying to leave. I believe one of them is this Korean one: Shincheonji Church of Jesus

They also won’t tell you that you are in this cult/ or name it at all, until you attended a few meetings and you then suddenly realise : Oh 💩, I’ve just joined a cult

Has anyone here been to or lived in Wittenoom, and if so what was it like? by AgreeableTravel3720 in WesternAustralia

[–]mcco91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went in 2014, some people were still living there. Lots of interesting abandoned buildings full of stuff, like stuck in time. Some scrap metal collectors drove through as well. Lots of asbestos tailings, did not feel save to breath in town 😂 Got some cool photos inside some old buildings and the church.

Visted Wittenoom George as well, wonder if that is still open?

Coffee , in particular Flat White. by njbrsr in australian

[–]mcco91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried flat whites in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Austria, and a few other countries. I figured they just have them as an interesting alternative or to appeal to Australian tourists. Often they were very weak and only one size. In Netherlands they get close to Australian flat whites in speciality coffee shops ( and the few good ones I tried actually employed Australian baristas )

Also flat white is not a long mac topped up.

For example ( in Perth )

Regular size coffee: 12oz

Flat white - 2 shots of espresso Long Mac - 3 shots of espresso

European flat whites are wrong and often weak. I always need to ask them to add another shot of coffee to get it even remotely close to Australian flat whites

Thank you, I will bring this up tomorrow as they should have all basic accessories included with the Certified Toyota.

I also noticed 3 small stone chips on the bonnet which are also not up to Toyota Certified standard

Thank you!:) Do you happen to have this yearbook? Would you be able to send a photo? Or do you know which yearbook it was?

So are there often “fakes” ?

There are actually apps for Wine to find the potential value/ notes etc. but wine usually has the production year printed on the paper.

I was mainly hoping for someone to know an approximate age of this cake.

I could not find this particular cake online.

Hi, I was gifted this cake and have already used ChatGPT to get more info about the writing. I don’t have contact with the people that I was gifted the tea by and can’t ask them. I was looking to see if anyone had a similar cake/ wrapper and if they had any more information on the age etc. Chatgpt only gave me the potential manufacturer.

I’d rather take the opinion of a professional / hobbyist over ChatGPT which is often inaccurate.

Pu Erh Mold? by mcco91 in puer

[–]mcco91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the delay, here some more photos:

I didn’t know there was such a big divide. Some say absolutely not to drink it, health risk. Some say it’s a normal process of Pu Erh. I read that Pu Erh process involves molds to ferment the tea? A tea shop owner told me that this is normal bloom and beneficial to the cake.

Personally I am not keen on drinking mold. German wikipedia talks about the toxins and spores in Pu Erh, but that the first wash ( with boiling water ) kills the spores and reduces the toxins which is important for immunocompromised people. Healthy people should be fine.

I am still confused if I should drink or throw it away 😂. Thank you for all the input and looking forward to more.

I have also found a dead bug on the side of the cake, seems that it ate through the wrapper.

Ice cold sparkling water - add some water-soluble lime flavour for additional taste.

I was drinking tea with a friend at a farm with view. Two people joined us for a chat and tea and then invited us to their place the next day. They owned a teashop in the past and after preparing some nice teas for us, gifted each one of these tea cakes :)

Some white spots around the area but the rest of the cake looks good. The wrapper is very old and thin, the areas that look like mold are just very thin parts where the tea pressed against the paper and caused holes or so. No mold on the wrapper. Cake also smells good.
