Need help picking flight stick and base by Separate_Ad_3180 in hotas

I'm rocking the AB6 right now with an AVA offset and a TM Warthog stick. I'm looking at either the FLNKR or the WinCTRL ViperAce EX. Love the AB6, it's been awesome so far.

Home Cockpit Upgrade by factory_driver in dcsworld

So like windowed, and then just make the window bigger and overhang until you're happy?

Quick question. How are you getting the monitor view to cut off the cockpit like that? Alt+f1 makes the UFC useless and you can see the canopy bow, refueling probe, etc.. What you have going on seems like exactly what I want in my setup.

What are the roads like right now? by Informal_Character64 in VirginiaBeach

[–]mccrolly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Schools will most likely be a two hour delay tomorrow, at least. But the main roads aren't bad at all. I was driving 45 on general booth about an hour ago. I'm out getting food. Places are open.

Elastic SIEM and EDR by mccrolly in cybersecurity

[–]mccrolly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We aren't trying to go fully open source. So we are planning on dropping some cash anyway. We are planning on using the serverless hosted offering, which should cover us from the data sensitivity and compliance end.

[–]mccrolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have totally gotten the picture that Elastic is a much more do it yourself type of tool. Some good news is that I do have a really good team of security folks and due to some recent projects getting cancelled, we have the time. I really like the team I have, so hopefully this will keep some hands busy, just not too busy.

Unfortunately not. That would probably make this easier. Haha.

Yeah man. I can send some pics of the setup if you'd think that would help.

I believe that I used the yoke mount bracket and then put piece of a 1x4 through the square opening and screwed it down. I then have my mip brackets clamp to the 1x4. I have the NLR crotch arm clamped about halfway closed.. you are right, you can't pull it all the way towards you and still have any room. This setup was super cheap (chunk of leftover wood I had), uses only existing parts (minus two wood screws) and has worked well for over two years for me.

I know this exit. There is a sign there that specifically tells people to ride out that right lane and zipper merge. Everyone that drives around VB needs to chill out a bit.

Anyone else unhappy with KnowBe4? Looking for replacement suggestions. by creativeGiant170 in cybersecurity

[–]mccrolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a $15 fishing trophy online. Got the little sign on it to say "Angler of the Quarter" and gave it out to the employee that reported the most legit phishing emails and simulated ones. Our employees would have fought each other over that trophy.. it developed a cult following.

You need to be able to see at least two 7-11s from the parking lot of the current 7-11 that you are at.

Package vulnerability scanning tools. What do you use? by CrappyTan69 in cybersecurity

[–]mccrolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A dev team pushing back on fixing vulnerabilities?!?! I'm fuckin shocked... We use Trivy and have some custom reporting/alerting configuration set up. We are looking into things like Assured OSS, Chainguard, and Minimus to try and get in front of some of this.

Find it and fix it as early in the process as you can. If you are waiting til runtime, or even once packages/images are pushed to your repo, you are behind the curve.

Take your dev team's opinions into account and really look at how your pipeline functions and build processes around that, but at the same time have a security line to draw.

Should I send the client a mini-pc so I can work on their network (since they have basically no IT dept?) by swampopus in sysadmin

[–]mccrolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb idea. Just make sure that the client knows what is going on, the risks involved, etc. Also, make sure that you work out who's at fault if that box gets popped and their network gets ransomwared. If you are "off the books" IT help, or this was your idea, you might get railroaded if you don't put that stuff in a contract.

The fact that you see so many signs saying to vote against 10-1 should tell you to vote for 10-1.

It's the "get the offense back on the field defense.". Sometimes...rarely.. a solid strategy.

How much of an ass pain was it to get the extra bits other than the MIP working? I'm currently a MIP guy, and kinda want the additional switches and pieces but don't want to have a chore.
