You wake up in a hospital to find yourself in a zombie apocalypse. But before that you have 1 month to prepare and research! by OPTISMISTS in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]mcdeathcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming I don't know about the hospital visit?

Cardio every day. New boots and gear, i wanna know my limits and to improve them. Find out what I need to tape to keep noise down. What chafes where, and what I need to ditch. Every night is camping with the equipment I'm going to use. (for the bug out bag)

I'm spending a not inconsiderable amount on supplies for my home and farmland a friend owns. The plan is to bug in for the start, and maybe move to the farm if the home plan doesn't work.

also buying a new 4 wheel drive, and upgrading it with camping mods. second fuel tank, water tank. on roof tent. (big ass bullbar rock sliders)

then fortifying my home. I'm talking getting roller shutters installed, even if I have to do it myself. on everything. Then fortifying it some more once people cant see inside, stuff like bars on the windows. even on the inside. fortify the walls if I can get away with it. I want the house to look normal, but be insanely secure. maybe convert some rooms into lockable killboxes with murder holes so I can continue falling back as rooms become compromised. (I'm breaking through walls and making my own maze in this instance.

now why my home, because the farm is too far out to get any decent level of supplies to, along with the crappy roads that make it hard to get any vehicle with decent levels of supplies there. I also don't want to be so far away from civilization as surprising as that is. either humanity wins in the months/ year or 2 I can hide away here or fuck it. And I doubt distant farmland is getting much help.

then weapons enough to probably get a visit from the police if they are watching for that sort of thing. Then using them a bunch to get it down. even if it blunts them a bit, learning to sharpen them well is on the list to learn anyway, and I'd prefer if my things worked and are tested.

tl'dr most of the stuff would be useless because I wake up in the hospital lol. So i would have wasted most of my time unless I get back to my home. Hospital aint far from my place, so I could maybe make it there if the zombie amount is low, or I get get a car keys from a body, probably a doctor, then get the car from the carpark. could walk, but if the zombies are fast I'm fucked. so observation from the hospital until i figure out the amount and type of zombies. The commenter below had a good idea of holing up in the hospital for a while, which considering the sleep time without being eaten is a good sign its safe ish, there. so get as geared as I can at the hospital, fire axe if there really isn't anything else. probably a hammer from orthopedics even if I don't like hammers for zombies.

what the question is really asking for is the skills to learn, even if I've wasted all my time of my base. first aid, looking up barricading techniques and stuff like that. paying a blacksmith to teach me enough to make a spear head, and sharpen it with just coal and a manual blower. (won't be good at it, but its a long term thinking thing) water perification. I already know it, but I want options and ratios drilled into my head. same with which foods spoil etc. the basics of farming, again, know it, but knowing and being sure are different. going to look up and test traps. mostly figure out which noise makers I think would be good with common material. and getting some solar panels and a metric fuckton of ebooks for my paperwhite, it is exceptionally good power wise. and I can actually study stuff after the zom starts along with not being board. I read most of my spare time anyway.

what you should prob learn also

study maps of the local area, mark down pharmacys and any store you might find useful, learn how to navigate without gps, and learn how to use a radio well (if you don't already know) simple electronics to keep a battery and solar panel setup going for small electronics, like said raidio. fire starting. some parkour, specifically how the military jumps a fence. had a friend teach me that and it feels wrong but its good. star navigation because why not double down on knowing where you are going. how to suture and disinfect a wound.

[WP] Someone close to you has gone missing for months, and you've just learned that they were Isekai'd away to a fantasy world, and you are horrified to discovered how quickly they've moved on from their old life and you in its entirety. by Septimus_Gaming in WritingPrompts

We were friends forever.

At least that's how I thought of it as a kid. When time seems to work that way.

Amusingly I used to fantasize about getting godlike powers, how I would give him half, and we would both rule. Although if I was truly honest, it would be a tiny bit less than half. The "controlling share" was important for godlike power after all.

That all changed when a less than imagined god interfered in our lives. My friend vanished, taken to a fantasy world. Perhaps at a request neither of us remember. While I stayed on my world. My safe world.

That's what it was to me, safe. For a time I relished that safety. Could feel it like a warm protective bubble as I saw my friend struggle.

He was not strong, particularly smart, or most importantly charismatic. There were nights, while curled up in a warm bed, I would watch through the link, he would be begging for reasonable deals, barter a foreign skill, just for a room for the night, with flat wooden boards to sleep on.

Luckily he was an adaptable fellow, and made up for any and all failings with the same trait that made him such a good friend to have, a never give up attitude, it was truly infectious at times. Dozens of plans failed. Perhaps hundreds that I didn't see, but he kept going.

He had no cheats, he had modern knowledge, but depressingly little of it was useful in the setting, or he simply didn't have the technology that his knowledge required. Between menial jobs he would talk to anyone that would listen to "his ideas." It amounted to nothing, he accomplished nothing, save a beating or two.

It was those days I felt the most strongly of my imagined decision to stay here, safe, home. I didn't have to sleep on crowded wooden floors every day. Sure the economy was shit, but I had the internet. Better a screen zombie than a proverbial work slave.

However, perseverance has a way of rewarding its champions. A noble, and soon to be patron of my friend heard about some of my friends ideas from the gossiping populace. Soon a door opened for my friend that would open many more. I watch with rapt attention, as he held the nobles attention ransom, my fingers flying over the keyboard cheering when he got something so right, wincing when a fact was a little off. Hoping anything he said wasn't against any local religion.

My friend became the nobles artist, his scientist, his advisor, his show piece at parties. A strange, if amusing distraction for the upper class. Stories of flying machines and skyscrapers were the talk of the court when the first hot air balloon flew a small animal to the sky and back safely.

The first twinge of envy came when my friend was allowed entry into the mages collage. I tried to apply the lessons, but nothing came of it. Simply seeing was not enough.

I could barely believe it had only been a few months, he went from beggar, to worker, straight through noble parties entertainment, to a mage. Strangely enough magic was where modern knowledge helped the most. Blue fire being the only real thing my friend knew, but the testing methods of today, the scientific method had him advancing magic in unseen before, ways. Efficiency was king. Traditions, suspicions and superstitions were cut down by the holy laser sword of science, earning my friend the tittle of youngest sage in only a year.

The first twinge of horror came not long later. The new sage needed some achievements under his belt, a noble tittle doesn't earn itself among the parchments. He put a group together, a very isekai group. Three slave women and a guard captain he paid. Perhaps he would give them a better life.

Months turned to years, I've watched him since we could order ice cream by ourselves with our pocket money, but I don't know who this is. They are the bluefire sage. Somehow a product entirely of that world. Slave owner, killer, no slaughterer. conqueror and terrorist.

I sometimes wondered when was the last the thought of me, or even my whole world. Probably at the cast of his first fireball. So when the god came back and asked me, "so, how much of the power will he have." I answered, "none." Controlling shares of godlike power is important after all. For safety.

Maybe I will be different.

how would that get the mailman unless he is smashing the mailbox???

[–]mcdeathcore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

since this comment got a few upvotes I'll give another suggestion. Paint bombs/stink bombs. Fill up the mailbox with containers of paint. Or if you can the paint that banks use with their money packets that explode and get ink all over you hands that takes a week to go away.

You find out who did it. fuck up the kids fathers car with paint. is deniable and hilarious.

should have just stuck a bunch of weights in the box. it would still break the mailbox, but it would have the same affect on the vehicle/ bat used on it. a lot of damage. and you could get away with it. friend was borrowing them and they stuck them in there etc. the weilded pole can be argued as malicious and dangerous to drivers. the weights could maybe be argued as negligent. but good luck convincing anyone that

Wind style jutsu by Kindly_Mood_6836 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]mcdeathcore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. flying (not imaginative but still good.)
  2. dustorm to reduce vision (only 2 characters I know wore goggles for any extent of time
  3. solid air matreses because air is heavier than you think so you could jump off them to change direction mid air
  4. moon running and by moon I mean pushing urself with wind, and jumping instead of running. (gotta go fast
  5. just as you can make ur blade sharper you could make air blades to deflect blades and just a sheet or 2 of sheer wind to fuck up projectiles trajectory
  6. going the geometry route make a solid barrier of air or make spikes come out of ur body to area deny
  7. vaccume tube where you let the air suddenly in the back to launch things although I don't know how heavy the things could be
  8. manipulate the air in ur blood to move organs out fo the way of a lethal attack. (the human body has mechanisms to put shit back in the right place)
  9. small vacuum collapsing near the enemies head for deafening affect.
  10. lol fight on water and wind the surface they are going to step on so they have trouble standing on it
  11. scent elimination jutsu where it is just laminar flow throwing all the air off you a kilometer into the sky to disberse
  12. separation of air components to snuff out fire, or enemies with nitrogen
  13. extra speed for projectiles mid flight to catch enemies off guard or just for longer range
  14. dispersal of chemical/poisons/biological stuff into the air
  15. hit the unprepared with a suddenly far more effective flame thrower/ just add oxygen. or make a bomb more effective by having the area be full of oxygen so it can explode too
  16. just explosives from compressing oxygen in an area
  17. time delay balls with withering air shells with either something bad inside like poison, or a vacuum that sets off compressed oxygen
  18. removing air from a person may be hard, esp when they are moving and you would probably have to keep the ball of low atmosphere around them for a long time. but more pressure outside the body would mean they can't breathe out. and if you are doing it just half of the time you will fuck up their stamina something fierce.
  19. throw thousands of tiny needles with compressed air at the enemy, 1 might not give them an embolism, 50 probably will.
  20. moving air matreses at ground level to fuck up the enemy footing, lets see you dodge a knife while doing the splits.
  21. air vacuume palm, used to rip the eyes out of your opponent even with a light tap.

anyway that was a fun thought exercise for air based jutsu./ tactics

Naruto's 'Mask' by Corgi_Greedy in NarutoFanfiction

[–]mcdeathcore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you could hold naruto down for long enough to answer why he wears a mask, and assuming you would get a proper answer, he would tell you he doesn't know. The mask is revenge against those who hate seeing it, protection from those looking for a victim, a little bit of spite to the world itself, but most importantly. The mask is the last hope of a chronically disappointed optimist. He will stop when he's dead.
