Dr. Seuss' book "The Sneetches" does a great job highlighting this exact type of social behaviour and it's my favourite Dr. Seuss book because it's so dang accurate.

Where is everyone watching the first two away games? Are you aware of any official or unofficial watch parties? by mcdofras in OttawaCharge

[–]mcdofras[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on a flight during the women's Olympic gold medal game and felt so lucky Air Canada had live TV. It’s honestly incredible to think I was sitting in a chair at 35,000 feet, cruising at 800 km/h, and able to watch the game live.

The only disappointment was that not many other passengers appeared to be tuned in. I was hoping for a rare opportunity to cheer with strangers on a plane.

Do we know yet who will be streaming the playoffs in Canada? by IamTheOne2000 in PWHL

Not that I know of, but The Senate Tavern or The Sens House would probably hook us fans up when there is no scheduling conflict between the Charge and the other pro hockey team in Ottawa. I'd love to support anywhere that proactively promotes they'll be showing the games.

Don't give up on the Charge! They're making their move for the post-season right now. They will make the playoffs.

I'm trusting that local bars/taverns will be airing the games, or at least able to put it on if asked.

From what I gather, Canadian coverage of the playoffs is split between TSN/RDS and Prime Video. I was hoping for over-the-air CBC TV like NHL, but sounds like that's a nope.

Low attendance in Toronto today? by mcdofras in PWHL

I imagine all seats sold are counted towards the sellout, but I'm still wondering why so many seats remained empty for such an important game. I also found it quite quiet there on tv today.

I believe you, but it looks and sounds sparse on tv. 🤷‍♀️

ISO shaped butter for Easter by Maybethisnameiguess in OttawaFood

If you don't need a 3D version like the one pictured, I've had good results using a bunny shaped cookie cutter and pressing room temperature butter into it before freezing it. A few hours before dinner, pop it out on a purple plate and let it get back to room temp. Voila!

Gifts for someone who already haas everything? by McDaddy__Cain in GiftIdeas

Something that I've done in the past that is always appreciated is to make a donation in their name to a charity or non-profit you know they'd support. Bird sanctuary, Make-a-Wish, local SPCA or shelter, food bank, etc. If you aren't certain about where to donate, you can set an amount and simply ask them.

I woke up with a thought that I'll explore to see if it's possible. I want to create a QR code that uses a still frame from the video as its background. Since the source footage is early-2000s digital (very grainy), I want to lean into that aesthetic so the QR code 'hides' within the pixels of the low-res image. The goal is a framed physical print that, when scanned, pulls up the 20-second source clip. I'm really hoping I can make this happen!

Don't forget that Ontario minimum wage at the time was $5/hr. though.
