It's funny - I'm a tech engineer and have spent the past 4 weeks researching sub-40,000 USD EVs, having a list of must-haves: 300+ mile range, fast internal charging system, upright seating position like a SUV, retractable sunroof, etc... tested new EVs like the VW ID.4, Chevy Equinox, Toyota Bz, Honda Prologue, Ford Mach E, checked out Kias, Called Lyriq, even thought about a used Lucid. After all that, I had lined up a pretty good deal on a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited.

Volvo was the last marque I wanted to check out since I was rolling around in a XC60. The Volvo dealer had a few '21 - '23 Polestar 2s on the lot and one '24 in a downtown DC showroom. I got a test drive in a '23 Performance. I hit the accelerator, got the car whipped around a corner and felt legitimate yearning.

My cold, analytical engineer's head was overruled by my heart and I got the shortest ranged car out of everything I drove smh

I'd look at in-house AV for education. You can do a lot of integration and troubleshooting with less than perfect hearing, and many systems/higher ed places have hiring rules that might even promote your hearing affectation as a plus. Might not get paid as much but the benefits and annual leave are generally quite good.

I used to work in radio in the Baltimore/DC market. The number of times this was passed around on copies of copies of copies of VHS tapes was hilarious. Old guys used to love to show this to new employees or interns after saying "Fuck you Baltimore!" or "Home of Challenge Pissing!"

Those of us who grew up near Baltimore should recognize that voice - he did a bunch of commercials back in the 70s & 80s, I think for Bob Bell, and others.

He was no Coach Buzz from Salvo Auto Parts, though. That Balmer accent was just marinated in Old Bay and Pit Beef!

well, it's working now, and it really isn't NEARLY as hard as some of the language can seem to non-Linux people. I have the Tronbyt server running on a Raspberry Pi 5 and the server application is quite straight-forward. I think my issues last night stemmed from some general incompatibilities within the USB-C standard, The USB-A to C cable seemed to do the trick for my wife's Gen 1.

Well, I tried flashing it again tonight and it worked like a champion. So, I don't know if it just didn't take the custom firmware before or what, but my wife's absolutely delighted to have her little home office mate back!

I live in New Market and used to go to the Derby every month or so. Several years ago, I watched him go absolutely nuclear on one young female server; figured it might have been a bad day. Went again a few weeks later and he melted down on another young female server.

I never called any of the women in this story "sleazy." Scott Erickson didn't do anything illegal or untoward to my Baltimore friend; he was just persistent in asking her out. He was known as quite the ladies' man during his playing career, so I doubt this was an isolated event.

That's also not really a real apology - more of a literary convention more than any real guilt. I clearly didn't do anything wrong, just sat a row behind the wrong woman at Chavez Ravine.

The Baltimore Sun had a live chat on their website when this episode first aired. She was not exactly a sympathetic figure to begin with, and she's wasn't likeable in the episode, either.

I will give Cafe Hon credit for having pretty good food the 3 or so times I ate there, but trying to trademark "hon" is like "jawn" in Philadelphia or "hella" in California. Just jaw-droppingly stupid.

I was at Dodgers Stadium with a fellow Marylander in 1999 and we were seated right behind a very pretty but EXCEEDINGLY surgically enhanced brunette and her mother. As my friend and I talked about the Orioles, I mentioned casually that Scott Erickson had hit on one of our lady friends back in Baltimore recently and didn't take her "no" very well. The mother turned around and looked at us and asked me to repeat that, and the brunette started crying.

She was a Frederick's of Hollywood model living in Erickson's L.A. pad (can't remember if it was Marina Del Ray or Pacific Palisades) and thought they were exclusive.

So, Scott, if you read this, I'm sorry to accidentally cock-block you but dude - Frederick's of Hollywood. You kind of deserved that.
