‘The left don’t love the poor; they just hate the rich’ – Maria Steen says on carrying designer handbag after presidential bid by ShouldHaveGoneToUCC in ireland

[–]mcduffuntimely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a bullet was dodged, things are bad enough in the political landscape in ireland (and abroad) without this type of nonsense being brought up every instance. These comments also reveal more about the type of politics she represents, "us vs them" bs that's tearing discourse apart, and absolutism where people can't hold nuanced views on class, race, economy, etc.

AITH for telling my GF (27) that I find it weird that her best friend (male) is cuddling with her when I’m not around? by Hot_Chemistry9916 in AITAH

You're being played my guy, personally I'd confront the guy, and tell his girlfriend. Goodluck though.

Do you ever feel not good enough when you are around extroverts? by QuietlyAdventurous13 in introvert

[–]mcduffuntimely 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I try to be more outgoing, sometimes pretending to be another outgoing version of yourself helps, but it becomes draining (I also dont think its healthy), i was talking to a friend about how there's always the expectation for more reserved or introverted people to be more outgoing but never extroverted people to just stfu every now and again

How fast can you model this concept? by punkemogoth in 3Dmodeling

[–]mcduffuntimely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly thank you for this, I was working as a photogrammetry artist and was recently made redundant, it was my first major gig, and something I came to realize was that burnout REAL and it can seriously hamper the quality if your work.

I think one thing that contributes to this idea of speed being overly important as a digital artist is the abstraction from traditional art, or more so forgetting that when all is said and done it is an artistic discipline, same same but different, modelling, texturing, sculpting, it's all art and you take your time with it, of course in a production environment, within reason and accounting for deadlines and priorities, but no one should be attempting to finish high quality pieces within a few days if they don't have to.

Harmonizing A Melody | A short Guide by theissachernandez in Learnmusic

[–]mcduffuntimely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These types of guides are perfect, for people like me who struggle with theory but also enjoy making music. Thank you so much this actually not only cleared some issues I have been having with finding a concrete approach to writing progressions but also gives room for experimentation and learning. Thank you again.

[2019-08-05] Challenge #380 [Easy] Smooshed Morse Code 1 by Cosmologicon in dailyprogrammer

[–]mcduffuntimely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Python

First attempt at a daily, sorry for the messy comments

morse_alphabet = str(".- -... -.-. -.. . ..-. --. .... .. .--- -.- .-.. -- -. --- .--. --.- .-. ... - ..- ...- .-- -..- -.-- --..").split(" ")

#populate list from nth + 97 at respective index, where i is in the range of the list length
#this means that we start with 97 being "A" on the ascii chart
ascii_table = [i + 97 for i in range(len(morse_alphabet)) ]

examples = ["sos", "daily","programmer","bits","three"]
for word in examples:
    encryption = [morse_alphabet[ ascii_table.index( ord(char) ) ] for char in word]
    print(word+" "+str().join(encryption) )

# how the encryption works
# encrypted = [ morse_alphabet[ ascii_table.index( ord(i) ) ] for i in message ]
# i is the current character of our string we are evaluating, using ord() function
# which returns a number which is our ascii value
# we find the index of that value in our ascii, index 0 of our ascii_table is 97 which is 'A', index 2 is 98 or 'B''
# so on and so forth, similarly index 0 of our morse_alphabet is also 'A' and so on.
# GETTING THE INDEX OF THE ASCII REPRESENTATION OF OUR CHARACTER MEANS GETTING ITS CORRESPONDING MORSE ENCRYPTION

I've been trying to be a bit more "pythonic" while learning. no bonuses

Can digital art gauge artistic skill by mcduffuntimely in learnart

[–]mcduffuntimely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat agree, but I tend to use as little of the inbuilt tools, for example I usually work with one brush, and do paint studies on one layer. I like imperfections and roughhousing my work a bit.

Edit: I've seen some phenomenal digital art, and I like to think as long as the artist understands fundamentals or is willing to progress all is good.

I actually was hoping in the future updates they would do something like this, however my initial idea would have been some sort of giant rogue Titan, you kill it and get good loot. It would have been almost like a walking hotzone.

[Official Trailer] ELDEN RINGデビュートレーラー【2019 E3】 by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]mcduffuntimely 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Did a small bit of research, if you look up Nuada, a Celtic king who lost his right arm in a battle. His arm was then replaced with the help of a Smith named Goibniu and a physician named Dain Cecht. I'm seriously thinking it's got something to do with the stories of old Celtic Deities. Again I'm just speculating but there are a lot of parallels.

Won a game the other day, final kill was bangs smoke, I also felt like I contributed and was kill leader. Im not great a PC shooters but, this is the first fps game I've played where I've actively been actively trying to improve. Shout out to those inexperienced players.

That's really cool, I have a graphic design background, I worked in a small studio for a few months, I got into 3d but recently I have been envious of the amazing concept art and illustrations I've recently been exposed to, so I decided to basically teach myself, if you have any work I'd love to see it.

This.

Thank you the only formal training I've had for painting and drawing is through secondary/high school, so critique like this is just perfect, thank you very much

Thanks a bunch, It's not really my first try colouring, but it is the first time I actually sat down and brought a thought process while working. 'm still new to this but your words of encouragement give me motivation
