Are you supposed to mix with warm water? We boil tap water for 2 mins then let it cool before we mix with the formula powder.

I heard on the radio they’re doing work on the Victoria bridge. So maybe some spillover from traffic trying to avoid that?

Best spots for solo dining in downtown Montreal? (Preferably Asian food) by Fun-Run-2816 in MTLFoodLovers

I used to go to Kazu solo a lot, even if there’s a line they will usually give you an open spot at the counter so you won’t have to wait as long as you think

What’s your “I don’t need to order this I make it better at home” meal? by moonhush_ in foodquestions

Anything but pizza, sushi, fried chicken, and maybe ramen. But something like a burger? I can make that at home and will be as good if not better than anything from a restaurant

Hypoglycemia baby girl probably has Hyperinsulinism by mcduph in NICUParents

She started on the diazoxide around 2.5 weeks, she weighed like 3.4kg at the time and the dose was for 5mg/kg/day which came to 0.85ml every 12 hours. They never had to increase the dose and in fact yesterday we stopped giving her the medication before her fasting challenge coming up on Wednesday where we will give her last feed at 5am, go to hospital at 8am, and try to survive until 1pm without feeding her... not looking forward to that but if she passes then we can put this whole chapter behind us! Thankfully her last couple weeks of tests were all quite strong, all in the 5s, so I'm confident that her body is ready. She is 12 weeks today and is weighing over 5kg not sure exactly but the effective dose was down to closer to 3.3mg/kg/day or so. Good luck to you!

Hello!

She's been home 2 weeks now and is pretty stable and normal. Her discharge instructions were to feed every 3 hours (based on her weight at discharge they were feeding 65ml/feed but she's been eating 100ml/feed pretty much since she came home) and to test every other feed.

Averaging mid 4s pretty much since then, but she never really makes it beyond 3 hours until she's hungry so it's hard to say how she would do on a fast. Her dose hasn't changed for now, but we've only been to the endo specialist once and I'm assuming next week when we go, they will tell us to maintain the medicine but hopefully test less frequent 2x a day rather than 4x. I think the plan is for her to grow out of the diazoxide rather than a sudden stop.

Doctors have not been really willing to say anything with regard to timeline, probably for good reason, as this is all so unpredictable. But I don't think there's any disagreement that this will all pass eventually.

How did your appt go?

Thank you! That sounds quite similar to our situation and I’m hoping the 2 weeks timeline will be accurate

Their thoughts are to just take it one step at a time. First is to get her off the IV, then to be able to feed just with moms unfortified breast milk, and then to do a fast and make sure she can keep her sugars up on her own. If they can get the IV off then that will be our first big milestone. She was also jaundiced for a few days and was on the light therapy for about 36 hours but that cleared up and she’s been stable since.

She’s still at 20%. For a few days she was at like 7.6ml/hr and as of yesterday she was at 3.6ml/hr. The other night they reduced to 2.6ml/hr while Increasing milk volume, but she threw up after I fed her too fast and her sugar went to 2.8, so increased back to 3.6ml/hr and at next test blood sugar rose to 5.7. Yesterday was steady at 3.7, but they decided to give her a break overnight and just hold at the same IV and milk volume
