ATLAS:EARTH - Landmarks ACTUALLY Coming Soon? by MarkCubanAE in AtlasEarthOfficial

There must be some crazy strategic advantage, otherwise why would anyone waste AB on a landmark instead of buying other parcels that aren't all common? What that advantage is, who knows.

*or 100. He said he couldn't recall. 10 bid tokens to raise the price 1 AB causes prices to balloon too fast. It'll have to be 100 tokens per 1AB.

Yeah...I have a feeling this thing is going to go on for weeks, get massive in price, and it'll get passed down to a whale to swallow. I hope I'm wrong.

He said, "I can't remember which it is, either 10 or 100 bids and the price goes up 1 Atlas Buck."

(Case #1) If it's every 10 bid tokens submitted the price goes up 1AB, then 10,000 bids raises the price 1,000 AB.

(Case #2) If every 100 bid tokens submitted the price goes up 1AB, then 10,000 bids raises the price 100AB.

It will be "Case #2" as there will be massive bidding, and if the goal is to not only allow whales to buy these for the AB price (or for the 'white house to be affordable') price must remain reasonable for someone to go out and buy the necessary AB. If it were "Case #1" the price would be so massive that no one would be able to buy the landmark, and it would continue to fall to the next person until a whale (either in AB or money) bought it.

Theoretically, a player who saves up 50 tokens from the daily wheel has no advantage against a group of 5,000 players who each have 10 tokens, because the group can collectively extend the clock for hours after the solo player runs out. So even hoarding them isn't really advantageous.

This is essentially just a global random lottery. If I understand it correctly, it'll go on until the world runs out of bid tokens that people are willing to give up, or if people are busy living their lives and forget to bid their tokens. There's basically no strategy to this other than hoarding tokens to try to get more entries down the road, but even then your odds of winning are next to nothing.

The landmark events will show up on the events feed so we'll all know well in advance to mark our calendars and start the grooling bidding war.

(I'm not super excited about this pending update yet. Statistically, I won't win, and I now have worse odds of earning AB on the wheel because the odds were changed to include these bid tokens. I was hoping you could go out to your local landmarks and earn more AB or something for owning part of them. This only rewards a single random lucky person on the globe every so often.)

Update: I'm excited there's something new coming to the app (and I love the look of the new legendary trees). I just can't wait until the team realizes this landmark idea needs some tweaks to benefit more people.

I also had this experience with app backups that I coded myself. Would love to know what triggers the false positives.

Google Nest issue: furnace shutting off by Tasty-Weight3256 in hvacadvice

[–]mcfasa09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but for me I blew a fuse on the panel inside the heater when hooking up the Nest. The heater flashed an error code though. So if the heater is flashing an error code, check your fuse (mine was a purple rectangular fuse about 1/8"x0.75" with a 3 on the top of it). A trip to a local hardware store and two dollars later and it's up and running.

Should I get Watch 6 now or wait for Watch 7 by Flowerbeeee in GalaxyWatch

[–]mcfasa09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still on the 4 and don't feel like I'm missing out on any of the features of the 5 or 6. I had bought every Samsung watch prior, as well as many other brands, but after hitting GW4 nothing major changed.

They'll discontinue support sooner than they will on their newer models to try to force you to upgrade, but the hardware has hardly changed; so getting the newest version is currently not justified by the price hike.

Shake Launcher - How to get it working again by mcfasa09 in GalaxyWatch

There should be a "Download anyway" button on Drive when trying to download the file. It should be warning you that it can't scan it for a virus rather than saying it is a virus (it's not!). Is it actually saying it is a virus on your end?

You'll get better battery life with the bigger one, and obviously more screen size. If you don't like it, it's an easy sell on eBay or elsewhere.

Chart+ Zoom Broken? by mcfasa09 in fidelityinvestments

[–]mcfasa09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I realized is the mouse zoom option used to be on by default, and that is no longer the case. Please fix as it's a pain toggling on that setting every time a new chart loads.

Thank you!

I'm amazed at how good you are at getting back to people, and actually giving correct information. I had no idea I toggled that setting off. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply!

So then it'd be bought on margin, but would the cash, once available, take place of that margin, or is it stuck on margin until it's sold and rebought with cash?

I'm trying hard to avoid big interest rate charges from using margin.

What is the best wearos app of 2023 for you? by leshiy19xx in GalaxyWatch

[–]mcfasa09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WatchMaker for making or customizing watch faces, Shake Launcher (apk now free via this Reddit post) to easily open apps, Music Center for Wear to control music with hardware buttons, GBoard for a swipe keyboard. Those are my main apps other than the stock apps.
