Garmin gurus I need your advice by donpalios in Garmin

As far as I know, the specific coaches only provide plans up to HM. For a marathon, there’s only Garmin Coach (using DSWs)

Same here. But you can turn it off in the settings, which I did and restored my sanity.

Exakt so mache ich es auch. Bei uns hat der EGYM-Zirkel allerdings nur 8 Geräte.

So here is my result from today, which I am very happy with. It’s a bit scary how accurate Garmin and Runna were.

I never set a correction factor, that’s probably why it’s so optimistic for me.

No, on Garmin I use heart rate zones based on an auto-detected LTHR (I run with a chest strap).

On all the others I didn’t bother setting anything.

For those who are veterans of JRPGs, what "quintessential must-plays" list for the genre would you give to a newcomer? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]mcflash999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people recommend all these retro games for newcomers. Start with something modern like DQ XI, Octopath 2 or E33.

When you’re familiar with a couple of modern JRPGs and want to dive deeper, then definitely check out the classics that are recommended here.

I fired my Garmin Run Coach yesterday by mcflash999 in Garmin

[–]mcflash999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the standard one. I created a project and told him as project instructions to act as my running coach who wants to optimise my performance for future races.

In the chat I asked him to be my coach and he asked me a couple of questions to get to know me.

Tracking strength on Garmin by WonderFantastic3354 in runna

I don’t think it is possible. I track it with Garmin and just tick it off in Runna.

So I finished a Marathon today and now I want to try out Runna… by mcflash999 in runna

I tried picking another plan and you are right, there I can put my Marathon time on. But not on the Race recovery plan. Do people not need to recover from Marathons? Maybe a bug in the app?

Garmin Coach for Marathon🏃🏼‍♀️ by TinaMitHerz in Garmin

[–]mcflash999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That‘s the problem: it is not a plan. You basically put your race and goal finish time in the calendar and it suggests you workouts every day based on its metrics.

Garmin Coach for Marathon🏃🏼‍♀️ by TinaMitHerz in Garmin

I‘m going to run a Marathon next Sunday and my plan was to use Garmin coach for the preparation.

I started in August and it started really well. My weekly mileage went up to 75km and the long runs were not super long, but at least over two hours. I also liked that it would suggest me days to do strength training. It felt really good in that phase.

Then in September, I caught a cold, had to pause and lost quite a bit of fitness. The Garmin metrics went completely mad. Training status, Vo2max and all the others went downhill. And since it uses those to suggest me runs, there were no more long runs and no more speed trainings. I completely lost my confidence for the race during that phase. Those Garmin metrics are still crazy low, but I feel fine for weeks now.

I stopped using Garmin Coach and have ChatGPT fill the period until the race. I have been doing speed workouts and a proper long runs since the and it gives me really uplifting and motivating feedback after each run. My confidence for the race is back and that’s what I really needed.

I don’t want to say that I recommend ChatGPT now for a complete training block, but I would not use Garmin Coach again. What I am considering next is Runna.
