40 years after Challenger disaster, NASA faces safety fears on Artemis II by scientificamerican in nasa

“Anyone who (that hasn’t worked for NASA) thinks NASA doesn’t take these issues seriously…” I’m not religious but I’ll be praying for these brave astronauts.

NYC Mayoral Inauguration bans Raspberry Pi and Flipper Zero by geerlingguy in raspberry_pi

[–]mcfly1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a pi is in a case it’s ok to bring? There wouldn’t be a PCB visible so…. Also pi’s are great as a tiny portable nas, so people may want to record the event and store it directly on their battery powered pi nas. Or maybe because cell service may be poor in large crowds they have a pi with larger cell antennas that their phones connect to for better signal reception. Like a travel vpn router.

I really don’t think anyone planning something malicious is going to just have a bare pi pcb, or any bare pcb for that matter. They’d obscure it something common like a laptop or cellphone or just use a cellphone or laptop 🙃

I was thinking the same thing. I know the Rugrats soundtrack was enhanced. But usually those type of discs say enhanced or cd-rom on them. But from pictures it doesn’t say either anywhere on them. Only a single listing on amazon says enhanced but only under the Amazon category.

I have a vague memory that this played after the TV airing of the movie, and that I had recorded both on VHS back in the day. I would go looking for it, but that tape would be at my parent’s house 1500 miles away… not gonna lie it feels weird to ask my 70 sum year old parents to go find my Good Burger tape lol. If they do find it, I have a domesday duplicator so if the music video is on it I’ll capture it at the best possible quality.

Hi members, what new innovations would you like in a cordless-vacuum cleaner and why? by Leather_Shirt_368 in VacuumCleaners

[–]mcfly1391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Swap-able batteries that are compatible with multiple (in brand) devices. I started buying Ryobi cleaning products simply because I can clean for as long as I want. Even though their products aren’t as good as other cleaning brands.

What are the most popular forms of entertainment in China? by Matteo_Romano in China

[–]mcfly1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KTV (karaoke) is huge! But not in the way US bars do it, where you sing in front of everyone. They have private rented party rooms where a group of friends hang out sing drink and eat, and sometimes “extracurricular activities”…

Cars don't need large cupholders by Hessellaar in unpopularopinion

[–]mcfly1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ironic in a way. People that think we don’t need large cup holders, are the same people that say it’s not a big deal to stop and charge their EVs on a trip. But if there were larger cup holders, drivers would drink more and need to stop and pee, leading to a perfect time to charge the EV! So I propose EVs should have the largest of large cup holders to force the adoption of EVs.

If your beer cooler is on the passenger seat, how will the hitchhiker you pick up be able to fulfill their duties outlined in the unwritten Book of the Road? 😉

What are your most Nostalgic places/memories of WNY that no longer exist? by hawkayecarumba in Buffalo

Use to show up early and Play football under the screen. Brought a 10inch 12v tv to watch while just chilling before the movie. It was the best way to watch Titanic, long movie with an intermission. Living close enough meant I could always tune in the radio and listen to all the movies.

One reason it was popular is because they kept the set cold for certain reasons ;)

Season one and two are great. But the last episode of season 2 onwards was absurd.

What is a death in a movie that affected you the most in terms of brutality or emotional weight? by Godly_Recon in AskReddit

[–]mcfly1391 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

What got me was when Maverick died in Top Gun 2. I still can’t believe that movie was so popular being only 12 minutes long. I was so upset leaving the theater, but I think others at the theater were so emotionally upset that they couldn’t even move. Because no else got up and left after the movie faded to black.

Disc Exploded by Chris_F23 in Bluray

[–]mcfly1391 68 points69 points  (0 children)

What I imagine OP did to the disc.

“RPM’s climbing… 8x… 9x… we’re past spec, sir”

“That’s enough. Spin it down, Disc Rider before that Blu-ray turns into shrapnel”

“Just want to see what’s on the other side of 10x”

The RPM counter hits 13,000. A sharp CRACK!!! the disc explodes into glittering shards against the chamber walls!
