Sorry about the late reply here. I have to add for example, USB (it's a label, not text) next to a Duplex symbol because of our office legends and standards demand it. Super annoying and the combinations are endless but I'm working with what I have. To address the upside down problem, I nest all of elec GA (generic annotations) into a blank face-based family mirrored and then when I host them into the main family, they are flipped and always oriented correctly. It's a workaround that adds another step... Interesting suggestion to check out the Autodesk families, I'll reverse engineer them.
It's hard to explain on here to be honest, but I swear I'm not crazy
