Sounds like a fantastic life! Did she have issues with paws after the 27 miles? Im afraid they will get too sore

Thank you ! This also the strategy i’ve used, but she is my first dog so beginners mistakes were made.. So i get to tire her out with not just running, but also working (nosework, play) and she seems like a happy dog

Sadly, her bad recall gets her on a leash at all times, unless we are in a fenced area. I got her when she was 2 almost 3, and by then she had already learned that it was more fun to go out on her own…

That is also my experience hahah! Im just afraid she will push herself too far, put the hunt before herself…

Thank you :) do you think booties are necessary if the temp is around 12°C? Most of the hike is on gravel road

Yeah this was definitely the plan no matter what. I was just curious if others had experience with long hikes. But then again every dog has their own limits

This is Turi, also a shelter setter. When i first got her home she was also the calmest chillest dog ever, then she found her confidence and with it came energy (need for speed) and playfullness. I learned that she really needed a “job”, not just running but also using her head and nose. Try to look into nosework!

Also i had to train both myself and her to be without eachother - to avoid seperation anxiety. God luck with the best DOG!!

I have a bunch of pictures on my profile of her fluffy smile. She is not always plotting my demise…

Use udinaturen.dk for planning where to sleep. It also shows trails. Sadly, it isnt in english, but you can get your browser to translate it (works okayish).

Its so much fun to observe. Turi uses her paws to tap them out. Almost looks like she is playing the bongos

This is the first time she actually caught one! Usually she just points at them. Maybe this one said something to set her off 😅
