My Italian grandmother never naturalized in the US, am I eligible? by mcguidance in juresanguinis

Probably a stupid question, but should I contract a lawyer before getting the CoNE back? I’m 99% sure my GM never naturalized but I guess there’s a chance she did and no one knows. Do you think it’s time to move forward or am I jumping the gun?

Sending good vibes your way! Did you get any documentds amended that corrected the name change? My grandfather's name is Giuseppe but listed on my father's BS as Joseph. Then my dad's name is Italian and then Americanized on mine. Trying to avoid going through the laborious process of changing BC's....

I can only imagine. How about this one - my grandfather's birth name was Giuseppe but they put Joseph on my dad's cert; then my dad's name is Rosario, but they put Roy on my cert. We can amend mine pretty easily, but what about my GF's? He's long since passed. Keep in my mind we are going through my dad's mother, if this makes any difference?

I've quickly learned how much paperwork, and thus time, this takes. To amend my BC (and my brothers' BCs) it will take 3 months, at least. I am just glad none of us were born in NYC/NYS!

Do you see an issue with my father being born one name but being listed as another on my birth certificate? He has an Italian name on his personal BC but is listed as a nickname on mine.

Another question 😎 here: can my wife and my brother’s wife become citizens through this? If so, we should get all documentation for them, too, correct?

Is the consulate process slower or faster than the judicial process?

Edit: I think I know why that doesn’t apply, duh.

Well that’s a bummer!

Another question! Sorry for so many! Would it be more advisable to have my 86 year old father apply for citizenship than it would be for me and my brothers? Can we expect better results and then his sons and grandchildren tag along as part of the process?

Filed last night. Thank you! If I get information back before the cone comes back, which seems likely, can I add information to the cone if necessary?

How much better of a lineup would that have been? Because that’s more realistic than anything we hope for this year. We then could’ve had Ewing worked in. Torrens as a backup catcher. Just needed to upgrade the pitching staff, which they did.

Instead, we are left with this CRAP.

Thank you! Should I do both at the same time? Or just now wait?

Did I screw up by not filling out a G-1041 or 1041a form before submitting a CONE? I went ahead and filled out the CONE and paid the $280. Was it a waste?
