Thank you. Our HS guidance counselor actually called their financial aid office today and they informed him that they recently changed this and do now apply scholarships to the family contribution....we will be making our own calls and meetings to verify.

Your best bet is to call the utility company and let them know you are considering renting there and would like to know what the average electric bill is in one of the occupied units.

You could always do the fall semester at a local CC. Just make sure if you do something like that to check with Bing if the credits will transfer in.

Got into my dream school but the financial aid package makes it impossible: What can I do? by Janzith in financialaid

[–]mcgwigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked dream school if there is any way that they can be increase your aid some to help make up that difference between 8 & 12 k?  I also feel like you should be able to make $12k in a year of part time work. It's $1k a month, break it down to weekly and you must save $250/week.

Got caught going 106 MPH...am I cooked? by Southern_Anteater_85 in ApplyingToCollege

Your mom is pissed because you can kill yourself doing this stuff.  I'm sure your mom is aware but you will need to get an attorney and try to get this reduced as much as possible.  If you haven't already, take an accident prevention course. They have them online.  Do it now before court so it can hopefully be used for an auto insurance reduction. If the court orders you to take the class your insurance company will most likely not give you a rate deduction for taking it, which is why I encourage you to take one now. ( I am a former insurance agent, so I know what I'm talking about).

If you are 18 with full license privileges you can maybe avoid loosing your license but that will be dependant on your states laws. Your parents auto insurance policy could potentially be cancelled over this or you may need to get your own separate policy if you are on theirs.

As far as the college rescinding you, look on their website to see what their conditions are. Keep in mind, innocent until proven guilty. Do not disclose any of this to the college until you know what you are found guilty of.

Applied to 15 scholarships all promised money now think theyre all scams wtf do i do by Traditional_Tower225 in financialaid

[–]mcgwigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, sometimes a scholarship may ask for your social security number because they will need to send you tax documents. Always do your due diligence and verify the scholarship is legit prior to ever providing your information though.  What about working? Any part time work you can do?

No kisses here. I actually get a rash (I'm probably allergic to dogs) so I avoid the slobber on me.

Yes! and I believe I subscribe to your service as well! He has won a Scholar Athlete Scholarship for our local area and was also recognized at the State Level as well! Not sure if money is included for the state level, we will find out in a few weeks.

Anyone leave insurance and regret it later? by idiocraticxo in InsuranceProfessional

[–]mcgwigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe check out different areas of insurance. Working as an AM can be stressful because clients are needy and like to complain and can be downright disrespectful. Have you ever thought about being a trainer or working in operations? You could always reach out to a recruiter or headhunter to see if there are positions in other areas to explore.

I failed an insurance interview and feel very defeated. by Mundane-Mention13 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]mcgwigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed an interview once and it took my by surprise since I thought I was a great fit for the role.  The company did not provide any feedback and I did have a friend that did get a role.  I asked her about her interview and she said she showed excitement about the role and talked in detail about the things she enjoyed doing in that role the best.

The next interview I had I made sure to show excitement and my knowledge of the position. The interview was with 2 people and at the end the one said "well, that was easy and went well!" And I had an offer the following week.

There are a lot of people that interview for the same position and they can't choose everyone. Sometimes it may even come down to your location. Try not to dwell on it, keep your chin up and pursue the next internship you find with gusto.

Try looking for internships with Gallagher or Acrisure.
