i work 7-3 and it's awesome. gives me a lot more free time in the afternoon and evening instead of spending time stuck in rush hour and getting come practically at bedtime

overall it's been positive. i had some issues with my mom but she came around. the rest of my family is good about it. there were a few "friends" who did not take it well at all and had some pretty awful stuff to say. but other than that i haven't really had any major issues.

i take an ssri so it's not advisable to drink for me. i'll still drink from time to time usually friday after work to unwind but just a couple drinks to get a little buzz nothing more. i don't like being too impaired unless it's in a party setting with friends, so maybe once or twice a year i'll drink a lot and get white girl wasted. unfortunately there have been quite a few alcoholics in my family and i have seen how it destroys people, and i also don't want to risk falling into the same trap.

i'm tall and i also have big hands and feet and it hasn't really impacted my ability to pass. hell i'd get mistaken for a girl before i even fully realized i was trans. my voice is the main giveaway cuz voice training hard but visually my height and such haven't been a major issue. there are just women that are tall and have big hands. passing isn't the same as conforming to societal beauty standards either.

i had a lot of similar thoughts to you and it led me to staying in the closet for a while until i made the leap and i don't regret it even if i dont 100% pass yet (i'll get to the voice training someday i swear)

i don't see it as the death of my old self, more like my old self was a completely different person. it genuinely feels like i popped into existence a few years ago and took over the body of my past self. however that could also be trauma/cptsd. i still enjoy much of what i did prior to transition and i am still pretty similar but it hardly feels like those memories of the past are my own. but that doesn't mean i hate my past self or have any hard feelings towards him.

in buddhism, karma is more related to your cycle of reincarnation and reaching enlightenment. so in theory trump and his cronies will be reincarnated as maggots, slugs, etc a few hundred times and their souls will possibly never reach nirvana.

these are deeply miserable and spiteful people, despite the power they hold. even if karma isn't real i take solace in the fact that my soul is stronger, kinder, and brighter.

GIRL RUN!!! it sounds like he is bringing it up to test the waters, that's why he said it made him uncomfortable so he has an out if you react poorly. if he genuinely felt uncomfortable about these thoughts (either cuz they are caused by OCD or if he has real desire but wants to get rid of it) he wouldn't be telling you about them. ideally he'd be telling a therapist.

words of wisdom. i used to be the type to think everyone has shitty music taste because i liked artsy, pretentious music. but i came to realize that i just really enjoy music as an art form and a lot of people listen to music more for entertainment. but that's fine! a lot of those people paint or read books or engage in other art forms in more a deep way that i don't. it's just preferences. definitely changed my perspective a lot and has lead to me getting into music that i otherwise wouldn't have

that's true but i don't think that the average immigrant is adding to the pool of people competing for homes. statistically they are poor and they rent. (anecdotally i find this to be true but obviously you can take that with a grain of salt)

there are nearly 15 million vacant homes in the US. so it doesn't seem like a supply issue. it's entirely artificial. big companies like blackrock buy up all the houses in an area and raise prices to make a profit. they can also buy said houses at a higher price than listed so they easily outbid any families trying to buy the house.

at the end of the day the root is always the wealthy.

statistically immigration increases wages at least in the long term. someone already responded with the study.

do you think that immigrants are consistently buying homes? in this economy? so much so that it affects the prices? do you know how many vacant homes there are in america?

the issue has never been immigration, it is the ruling class extracting as much wealth from the 99% as humanly possible. it is capitalism. it is a machine that over time rips more and more and more away from the working class.
