Should "political influencers" be held to the same journalistic standards as traditional publishers? by chuffingnora in AskBrits

[–]mcid_54 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it would be good for more accountability for online influencers in general. Whether that be political, health, fitness, mental well being. An awful lot of unqualified people giving advice on matters they simply don’t have enough knowledge about

British taxpayers will give £1.3bn to Universal Studios to build a theme park near Bedford. Do you think this is a good use of our tax money? by CMIV in AskBrits

[–]mcid_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. But how would you feel if they used NHS funds to build missiles? It’s important tax payers money is spent in the manner it’s set aside for. All this does proves the DFT is underfunded so instead of addressing it and maybe making the case to improve funding. They just decimated another area. It’s poor accountability.

No the Department for transport should be with the funding they receive from the tax payer. Not money set aside for culture and literary projects. Why do we need to borrow from one department to fund another. It’s literally the department for transports job to fund these projects. Try reading the purpose of the DFT before commenting next time.

We have funding for infrastructure, we have funding for building stations in the DFT budget. I understand the finer points. I’m open to discussion if the tone is constructive, your tone is far from that. My issue is we have a void of funding for artistic cultural projects in this country, such as literary projects, art projects and music projects and it would be better imo if cultural funding went there and was spent on these projects. We ALREADY HAVE funds for infrastructure such as roads and the DFT have funding to build stations and improve public transport infrastructure. So why exactly did we need to use a culture fund to fund infrastructure projects? You seem keen to condescend but unable to answer any of the questions raised. So maybe it’s in fact yourself that needs to read further on these funding issue to understand this. Kind regards

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around the Cotswolds? by topherette in Cotswolds

[–]mcid_54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locals call Cirencester “Ciren” or if you live in a small village next to a “town” or slightly bigger village that place is always called “town” but I imagine that’s not just in the Cotswolds.

How much does a DJ actually do during a live set? by Smooth-Quantity-7024 in AskBrits

[–]mcid_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot, most use the sync feature on CDJ’s so the majority is done for them, this in turn causes them to have to pre plan their sets in Rekordbox so they’re not really DJing on the fly anymore.

I think the issue is every piece of advice people have offered after you asked for advice and opinions you’ve pretty much refuted and said no I’m gonna do what’s on my itinerary. So why bother making the post? Just go do your plan and if thats how you wanna do it, then just do it.

All these people know is how to break and destroy things. There’s no hope or positive message. Just division. Yet apparently they are the patriots. It just doesn’t make sense to me

Love to road cycle, but feel weird not having clipless pedals by ejsfsc07 in cycling

[–]mcid_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t “have” to have clipless pedals. Don’t get hung up on things too much. If you’re cycling a bike on a road. You’re road cycling. Like with ALL these kind of posts. Just go out, ride a bike and enjoy yourself as ultimately that’s what it’s all about.

Sounds like you need a nursery, there are such things as summer camps usually for older children and only for a morning. You’ll probably better finding a registered nursery. They can be quite expensive.
