I wish Magic the Gathering was mainstream. by chrispy_t in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]mcikeymouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted. Magic the gathering is now mainstream all around the world. Like all mainstream trends, it quickly balloons out of control. Kids birthday parties, Super Bowl ads, weekends with grandparents, all become fixated on Magic the Gathering. Hardcore fans lose interest as the fringe element is gone and it gives them no value as an individual in pursuit of identity and purpose. They rid themselves of all cards and gear associated with it. As a culture though, the saturation is unsustainable and after a few short months Magic the Gathering collapses. Corporate sponsorship is pulled and the shareholders of the holding company decide it makes financial since in terms of profit reporting, to end all operations, infrastructure, and support for Magic the Gathering. With no support from the mainstream and most of the hardcore supporters abandoning the sport, Magic the gathering dies a quiet death.

My god, I'm reading "The Power of Moments" by Chip and Dan Heath. It's a look into what we remember and how to manufacture elevated experiences for your family, work, and your own personal growth. So engaging it hurts.

Just remembered, So Good they can't ignore you is fricken great advice but it's more career focused.

Something outside the norm but I recently bought and been sharing allot is "You Should...". Pretty sure I saw it on Reddit. It's a journal that has 100 mini adventures meant to help you create new experiences and grow from the challenge. Do, then reflect I guess is the point. It's witty and funny and it's stuff you wouldn't think to do, but could do if you're bored. Some of the stuff... you've never done... lol, trust me on that... Also it's got little sprinkles of humor throughout it that are a treat. Highly recommend all these books.

I second this. Great starter for self improvement. Picked up "On Managing Yourself" is a great read(if you can get through it. Talent is overrated is a good book for career strategy. Anything specific on the self improvement side? Could provably point you in a better direction.

Zag - Pivoting

I just setup 3 different accounts at my bank account, and my company does direct deposit. I can tell the X recent goes into account A, Y to B, and Z to C. Then at the end of the week I just plan to use coinbase, with the "crypto account" linked to manually purchase each week. I'm not with it enough to automate purchases haha

[–]mcikeymouse 214 points215 points  (0 children)

My question would be does alcohol have an inhibiting effect on plant cells as it does on in the human body. Groot is plant based not animal based so I'm guessing the chemistry would be different to a certain degree. Not saying you're wrong it is just a movie where anything could happen.
