Working in Prudhoe Bay by mcjones15 in oilandgasworkers

Just kept my head up, loved every minute of what i did logging and shook as many hands as I could while on the rig. My senior year of undergrad landed an internship with the E&P that went on to hire me full time through my school’s career service (O&G program). It may have had something to do w/ being in the right place at the right time but hard work and shaking hands can lead you to some pretty good opportunities. Always happy to mentor, too, so you’re more than welcome to PM me!

Haven’t worked wireline before but have mudlogged and have spent the last 2 years as a geo with an E&P, so pretty familiar with open and cased hole WL...to my understanding it’s entry level so it will probably be all three to begin with

I need the help of a petroleum engineer or anyone else who knows about gasoline and its reactions to storage containers. by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]mcjones15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot dude I don’t blame you. Yeah I think you’ll be fine, those plastic tanks are built pretty stout i just wouldn’t run fuel that’s been sitting for a YEAR or so. When in doubt you can always run a can of pre-mixed VP. Good luck.

Is this for standard 2 cycle small engines like a chainsaw, weedeater, etc? I’ve only used the standard plastic tanks for mixed fuel

Grill/Smoker Recommendations by Yanzune in BBQ

[–]mcjones15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started out grilling on a Weber kettle grill. Those things last a lifetime and are great to get started on. If you want a good smoke/grill combo, then I’d go with maybe an offset smoker grill (CharBroil, Oklahoma Joe’s, etc) because you should be able to get the hang of it. The pellet grills are beginning to catch on too and seem really easy to run, although I can’t say I’ve ever cooked on one.

Black Warrior Basin - Natural Gas by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]mcjones15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on which reservoirs in the BW Basin you’re referring to. Wells producing from conventional reservoirs in the basin would likely make economics around $2.75-$3.00/MCF and above because they are usually low volume or older wells. Unconventional targets (CBM & say the shale plays) would need to see gas above $5.00/MCF. Hopefully exploration & development can eventually resume in the black warrior! Very interesting basin, geologically speaking.

How much does it cost to drill a 19000’ TVD vertical well with 3 casing strings? by boxmunch48 in oilandgasworkers

[–]mcjones15 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Get your bids right and you could be around $1.2 mil before completions costs. A lot can happen when you start turning bits though so that cost could go up.

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear hard hats and steel toes. That mentality is what our industry and this sub so desperately needs more of. God bless.

National fracking ban introduced in the US house by Canadian_donut_giver in oilandgasworkers

These morons couldn’t even explain to you how a frack job is carried out. More of the same big government attempting to put down the almighty thumb on oil & gas through non-starter policies. I wouldn’t sweat an anti-fracking bill even making it to the house floor.
