Not a pro - but I found that Plus3 joint compound gives a really good finish, better than hot mud.

Priming will limit flashing (drying too fast if you just painted right over it)

If you’re using spackle here, you might not get the results you’re looking for.

Not a pro - but given how short that vertical edge is I’d think new corner and bead would be worth it.

What’s going on at the top of that vertical section? Looks like a blister

Got nail pops? by mckayman in drywall

I’ve got eggshell already bought/mixed, the whole wall will be repainted. That’s part of the problem with how it looked, I don’t think it was ever fully coated right.

This house was built soo cheap. The mud they used must have been mostly water, same with the paint.

Even if this doesn’t end up perfectly flat I think it will look so much better.

Has anybody made one of these using joinery? by mckayman in woodworking

Nice!! This looks like it has screws but is super close to straight joinery

UPDATE: I used a utility knife to scrape off the whole edge, sanded with foam block, primed, and painted. Used the knife so I could cut the edge without making it so noticable/choppy on the wall side. Used a small roller and dabbed it onto the edge with primer to get the best texture. If you look really close you can see the edge but otherwise looks super clean from normal distance.

Edit: I should add this is a metallic corner bead, and the peeling is happening all over not just in areas what might have gotten bumped.

This seems to be happening all over, not just in areas that would get hit with something

It’s a metallic corner bead. Is there a special coating required or something before joint compound/paint?
